I'm gonna say y'all are the only 2 besides me who know Steel Panther and know they rock Just Like Tiger Woods! I saw them last weekend in ATL and they rocked like GnR did in the early '80s!

I'll listen to bands like Queensryche, Dokken, Firehouse, Skid Row, White Snake, etc. every once in a while. It’s not my favorite genre, but is fun if I’m in the right mood for it. I tend to stick with the more 70’s hard rock, 90’s grunge, or 2000’s rock and pop punk more often than 80’s stuff. 80’s music is often just too cheesy sounding for me.

Same. Along with Ozzy’s Boneyard.

Those dudes can play, especially Satchel. Starr is a great singer. And they're freaking hilarious. They are really really good at what they do. Have introduced a few friends to them who have caught on now. (The videos for Glory Hole and Party Like Tomorrow Is the End of the World were part of the indoctrination.)

Quiet Riot or Queensryche?

I find myself now going back to the 80's music, including all the hair metal stuff, more than any other music. It has just held up the best. I loved all the 90's music at the time, but a lot of it just has not held up for me at all. I can't really listen to any of the "grunge" era bands anymore. The music just doesn't excite or move me at all.

I listen to hair bands daily. Love it.

Roscoe, I love Steel Panther. I’ve seen them about 8 times. They are playing a character but what they do is amazing & they can really play. I would love to know if they write their own between song banter to each other & the crowd or if someone else writes it for them.
As a child who grew up in the 80’s I was there to watch entire scene unfold & loved it. I ended up moving on to thrash but the glam scene was such a great time. I can talk about 80’s Metal all day.

Def Leppard is fricking awful

Wrong. High 'N' Dry and Pyromania are great albums. Not sure why the band keeps coming up in a Glam Metal thread though.

Yeah, Def Leppard had some really good material early especially for their age. I think it was in Cream where I saw them claim (and I'm sure they did elsewhere) that they would never sell out or go pop. Well, they did.
Quiet Riot is the one group most responsible for turning me off metal at the time. Their 2 big hits were both remakes of Slade songs? LOL.

Eh, Metal Health is a pretty good song.

I love hair metal and still listen to it regularly.
Guns N' Roses is my favorite band ... I would not put them fully in the hair metal category ... and saw the Not in This Lifetime tour about 10 times.
Also love Motley Crue and some Metallica. Of course the hair metal hall of fame Def Leppard, Poison, Warrant, LA Guns, etc.

Just read this, I highly recommend it
I just checked it out on eBay for a smaller price.
529 pages though. Is it an entertaining read?
Just by reading the chapters names, it sounds wild.

The most underrated/underappreciated aspect of 80s hair metal is the range on most of the vocalists. Those dudes were phenomenal.

Totally agree, a quality non existent in today's music.
Here's a small list of my favorites:
Jani Lane
Axl Rose
Brian Johnson
Jimi Jamison
Steve Perry (I know, he's pop but regardless)
Joe Elliott
I'm sure there's many more of your favorites.

Music is very subjective, so if you dig it, that's what counts.
I had to refresh myself to reconfirm my memories on why I quickly disliked that song back in the day. I'll give it 2 positives. Anthemic chorus. And, looking at QR led me to see that James Durbin had been with them recently but left to do a solo record, which I like so far.
But the riff is really boring, there's not much musically or lyrically and I would put it up as an example of their lack of songwriting talent that led the record company to make them cut a couple of Slade remakes. (I admit the story of doing COFTN and them trying hard to tank it but having a hit, is pretty funny.)
