Cody Jinks-Im Not The Devil
That and Sturgill were head and shoulders above everything else I listened to this year.

AS for my AOTY, car seat headrest is it.
Me, too. I just can't get past it. I keep wanting to put Chance up there or find some obscure metal album or throw in Sturgill or get James Blake/Justin Vernon's projects where they seem to be merging into each other...but there's just not another album this year that I keep going back to as much as Teens of Denial.
On top of that, I've played it for some friends who don't really follow new music but love music (old punk heads, musicians, dead heads, etc..) and they all kind of love it, across the board. It's just a really, really good album with a ton of replay value. And fricking Will Toledo is only 24.

LVL UP - Return to Love is the top of my list. The album is amazing beginning to end.
King Gizzard would be next for me, followed by car seat headrest.

It's probably Car Seat Headrest for me too. Even though the Bowie album will forever remind me of 2016.
Several really good hip hop records from Chance, ATCQ, Schoolboy Q and I liked the Young Thug record as well.

Agreed on the rap. Schoolboy was solid. Lots of stuff from save money crew came out that was legit (Noname, towkio, Malcolm London, jamila, etc...). And I agree that the Young Thug album was damned good in a surprisingly artistic and interesting way. Yet. Car seat headrest. Damn.

i saw them live in september and it showed. he was very immature on stage.
It was simultaneously one of the best shows I have seen and utter crap. When they were on, they were really fricking on. When they were off or pulling various jokes, it was annoying AF.
Teens of style is solid too fwiw. Definitely give it a listen.
hopefully we get 20 years of that song writing.

I've listened to the Whitney album more than anything else this year. I even like working out to it which seems weird.

I pretty much listen to country/americana music, and I think its been a pretty damn good year for the music overall. Like I said in another post, Sturgill Simpson and Cody Jinks are easily at the top, but after that, there's a lot of good music.
