Doobie Brothers are way overdue. So is Pat Benatar. They should get in before anyone else on this list. And with the dilution of what Rock'n'Roll means, I'm sure Whitney Houston will get in.

Just outside my Top 5

T. Rex
Rundgren
Benetar

I know I'm going to be in the minority here, but I think Reznor should just go in as an individual (maybe down the line) rather than putting NIN in.

My only feelings on this are that I would go Pete Townshend on Abbie Hoffman at Woodstock on any son of a bitch who votes for Whitney Houston. The name on the marquee is Rock and Roll, not pop, not R&B, not dance, not soul, ROCK AND ROLL. It's fricking bad enough that Madonna is in, keep this up and five years from now they will be inducting New Kids on the Block and N'Sync.

Oh, and how in the hell are The Doobie Brothers and Todd Rundgren not already in?

The problem is - can't be #Woke if you tighten up that definition of rock and roll. They're almost out of the foundational blues and proto-rock black artists.

They will increasingly tap Hip Hop who, frankly, outside of a handful (RunDMC, Beastie Boys), should just be in a Rap/Hip Hop HOF (but, of course, no one gives a frick about that, they want to crash the Rock HOF), just as they have to tap into pop and soul to get female inductees.

I mean, there are certainly many black artists (and even a solid handful of female artists) who deserve induction. Problem now is - almost all are in.

How many times have MC5 and Kraftwerk been up for nomination? Not gonna happen. Tangerine Dream deserves to get in before Kraftwerk if that brand/realm is allowed.

They're big with the hipsters.

Agreed.

But, the Rock HOF is a clown show, overall.

no one on that list, with the possible exception of T. Rex, deserves to get in before little feat and especially before warren zevon

Does anyone outside of Detroit know any MC5 songs besides "Kick out the Jams"? Sure, some hipsters and music buffs do...but HOF status should transcend way beyond that.

But they were Pioneers!...they very well may have been, but they do not carry nearly the catalog that some of the other nominees (who also won't get in) do.

Did Congress pass a law requiring them to induct someone every year? Just say for the time being we have everyone in we think belongs. Or are we going to have to wait until Jann Wenner's ego falls on him and crushes him to death?
