Zack Snyder threw subtle shade at Warner Bros. and 'Justice League' while promoting his 'Army of the Dead' Netflix movie

quote:

On the flip side, Snyder described his experience working with Netflix as "amazing."
"My team there have been nothing but supportive and incredibly collaborative and just really a joy. This was probably one of my, if not the most, gratifying experience I've had making a movie," Snyder said during a live portion of the event on Tuesday.

quote:

"I really wanted to make a movie with a universe and an IP that I could be the extreme authority on and allow the audience to just be on a ride that is purely my design," Snyder said.
"Army of the Dead" isn't planned as a standalone film. Netflix is going all-in on Snyder's vision for his zombie world.

For those who don't know when D'Elia's carere went up in smoke he was edited out of this movie and Tig Notaro was selected to replace him. However, since the pandemic had essentially shut down all filming they shot her over green screen and will digitally insert her in. She didn't film a single shot with anyone else in the cast.

That's actually pretty interesting, and I wonder if it will be noticeable or not.

The zombies are too dark!

Snyder just doesn't understand zombies...

actually, this time it looks like it's too light hearted for a zombie movie....

this is in his wheelhouse, so i'm pumped, but the trailer stunk. can we stop relying on the old song + quick cuts and slow mo action already?

I guess people forget Snyder's first movie he directed was the Dawn of the dead remake. Which was actually a great modern zombie movie.

That's like asking Quentin Tarantino to do a movie without a trunk shot.

I'm surprised that he's making a movie that's 10 minutes of plot and 2 hrs of generic green screen cgi fight scenes.

I'm right there with you in general. Nowhere can the detrimental effects of over-using and over-reliance on CGI be better illustrated than between the LOTR and Hobbit Trilogies. Same director. Same universe. And the Hobbit looks like TRASH (CGI everywhere) where the LOTR (CGI only when needed) still holds up today. Good practical effects trump CGI.

Having said all that...this movie looks fun as hell.

It was good because it was written by James Gunn and George Romero. Combine that with Snyder's ability to crush cinematography and you get a good movie. Let snyder write his own shite and you end up with Sucker Punch.

This is a good point. Watchmen and 300 are similar examples of him turning good writing into entertaining movies.

The lawsuit, obtained by PEOPLE, marks the latest accusation against the 40-year-old comedian, who was accused of sexual misconduct and pursuing underage girls by multiple women last year. The lawsuit is being brought by a woman who is choosing to go by Jane Doe for privacy.

D'Elia "constructed a manipulative, controlling, and abusive dynamic in which he demanded Ms. Doe provide him sexually explicit images of herself over the internet, directed her what specific sexual poses and acts she should perform for him, and psychologically punished her when she refused," the lawsuit says.
