I’m surprised no one mentioned “Eden Lake”. Very, very disturbing.

I’ll be a long time forgetting the last 15-20 minutes.

Although I generally disagree with most of you troglodytes here but I do appreciate your collective movie acumen. But for the knuckle-dragger who recommended "Martyrs" I want to fight you at Sonic. I now require therapy. Thanks I am officially scarred for life. DISTURBING!!!!!!

There is life before Martyrs, and life after Martyrs.

Also, Martyrs didn't show as much as you think it did. I was shocked how not disturbing the actual film was.

My thread from March

I have to say that while it is definitely painful to watch, it really was a lot less gory than I though it would be. I won't get into spoilers but a lot of the stuff I had been led to believe was shown explicitly was done off camera, where the person inflicting the injury was shown doing it, but the actual action was off camera.

The horror films that disturb me most are the films that might actually happen.

e.g. Silence of the Lambs.

Possession The Wicker Man (original) The Witch Hereditary Funny Games (original) Honorable mention because it’s not strictly a horror film - The Vanishing (original)

Had never seen The Vanishing but I watched it last night because I like everything else on your list, and it was very interesting. Reminded me a little of Prisoners in its tone.

The Vanishing (1988)

Don’t look up the plot or anything before watching it

The ones that jacked me up as a kid are: Halloween (overall greatest horror movie of all time) Children of the Corn (that chanting music and the creepy preacher kid who was in charge)

I loved these as a kid. The 1988 remake of the Blob fricked me up as a kid

Watched Cabin Fever 2 for the first time in a long time last night on Prime. That is one messed up movie and I have a pretty heavy tolerance for that stuff. I’m not talking about your run of the mill sick shite either. Herpes closeups, oozing pus from a fingernail, throwing up chunks in people’s mouths, a girl spitting a guy’s load in a sink, strippers giving lap dances and leaving stuff behind, a REALLY fat girl having sex in a pool till her teeth come out and I won’t even describe what happened in the shower.

I’ve never seen this but now I want to lol

So what is the deal with Event Horizon? So many mentions I think I have to see it. The last scene of Hereditary haunts me.

I watched Event Horizon alone in my freshman dorm (Hatcher Hall) on Thanksgiving night, 1997. It had been deserted for the holiday and it felt like I was the only person staying there, and I was excited to have the place to myself and park right behind the dorm, between it and Tiger Stadium. Unfortunately for me, just before starting the movie I started a load of clothes in the laundry room, which was in the basement. More unfortunately for me, despite being freaked out already, I decided to go tend to said clothes after the movie. To this day I do not know if the little girl jumping rope at the end of the dimly lit hall was real, or not. I know she still haunts me, along with Sam Neill, and that I didn't get my clothes that night, nor did I sleep in that dorm until the following Monday, nor have I watched a true horror film since.

So that's kinda the deal with that movie.

I'm about half to 2/3 of the way through The House that Jack Built with Matt Dillon, and it's definitely pretty fricked up. And it's also not very good (so far).

Watched it on Friday night. I thought this was pretty good for what it is. I went in with low to mid level expectations based on some reviews I read. But I really liked the overall plot. Creepy movie.

I had no idea what the movie was about before I hit play. I’m hesitant to discuss it so as not to give away an early scene.

Smile was good for about 3/4 of the movie, but fell apart for me in the final act big time.

Slight spoilers...

I was digging it until she went to the house/cabin in the end.

Agree. Many of these supernatural/psychological horror films seem to struggle with final acts and endings too often. I’ll save anymore discussion for official thread.
