So what is the deal with Event Horizon?
It's really disturbing, lol.

So many mentions I think I have to see it.
It honestly is one of the best horror movies ever...so much better than it had any business being.
Paul WS Anderson has only done 2 things right in his entire career:
1. Banging and marrying Mila Jovovich
2. Event Horizon

Saw
Exorcist
Nightmare on elm street
Let’s scare Jessica to death (saw it when I was really young)
“What’s in the box?”

I’m not into the genre but I remember Phantasm (the 1st one) creeping me out as a kid.

I don't really find sadism disturbing itself as much as that there is a big market for it.
Fulci's Zombi got me for some reason I can't explain.
Eraserhead
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The Grudge kind of got me and made me laugh at the same time.

This thread has been pretty fricking tame in terms of a "disturbing" horror movie list.
Lot of mainstream big budget horror.

There was a thread a while back where we discussed Phantasm, and it made me rewatch it for the first time in forever.
And it really does not hold up well at all. It's borderline cheesy and funny now, whereas it fricked me up as a kid. This is what I said about it last year:

Man, watching it now it seems so silly. Admittedly, horror movies scared the shite out of me as a kid, but watching as an adult I found that Phantasm just isn't really very good and is weird as frick. I also vastly overestimated how much the flying orb thing is in the movie. It basically is only there once when it kills the guy, then another time flying around before ole boy shoots it and destroys it. But that thing sure did terrify me as a little kid.
I think Phantasm is one of those movies that was great during its time, but hasn't aged well at all. Because now it just feels sort of jumbled and all over the place.

I’ve never seen it and have no plans to, but from a disturbing standpoint, I’m surprised no one has mentioned A Serbian Film.

I left that one off the list because I just assumed someone else had named it

The Incredible Shrinking Man (50's version)
Although its Sci-Fi it gets very disturbing.Therex a scene where's he's shrunk so much that his house cat is chasing him around trying to kill em and the ending is somewhat open ended but you can pretty much guess his fate.
Very creepy.

They show em in the basement of his house pretty much fending for himself.
Got so small nobody could see or hear him anymore.

Not a horror movie per se, but the final scene of Tusk will be with me until the day I die.

I watched "Speak No Evil" last night, and while not a top 5, it's pretty fricking disturbing.
Man I was so excited about this. Heard it was great. Thought it was stupid as hell. I was laughing by the end at how stupid it all was.
Martyrs is disturbing.

Probably because I watched them as a kid. They scared the shite out of me and warped my mind.
Same here, to this day I have never watched TE again and never will, EVER.
