I'd have a hard time ranking Lincoln. Film was so god damn boring. Yet, I bet they nailed the historical accuracy and authenticity of how boring all that stuff was. Therefore, I'm conflicted

Lincoln and minority report should be 20 or lower

Move crusade up and private Ryan. Ryan should be top 5-7

Hard to top Raiders

The Sugarland Express (1974)
Empire of the Sun (1987)

That's absolutely terrible.

Just terrible.

Saving Private Ryan at 17? WHAT THE frick?

And Crystal Skull should be dead last, period.

Yeah - those 2 - in particular make the list, essentially worthless. AI almost certainly should go in the 29th spot (or with KOTC - those are #28 and #29).

I don't have a problem with some of the other highly ranked, although I would have SPR much, much higher and Temple of Doom lower.

AI at 5 is probably the most laughable.

Probably could tweak it - particularly in the middle, but this is close enough for government work:

29. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008)
28. A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001)
27. Always (1989)
26. Lincoln (2012)
25. War Horse (2011)
24. The Terminal (2004)
23. Amistad (1997)
22. 1941 (1979)
21. The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997)
20. Munich (2005)
19. The Sugarland Express (1974)
18. War of the Worlds (2005)
17. Duel (1971)
16. Catch Me If You Can (2002)
15. Empire of the Sun (1987)
14. The Adventures of Tintin (2011)
13. Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983)
12. The Color Purple (1985)
11. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984)
10. Hook (1991)
09. Jurassic Park (1993)
08. Minority Report (2002)
07. E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982)
06. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)
05. Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)
04. Jaws (1975)
03. Schindler's List (1993)
02. Saving Private Ryan (1998)
01. Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)

29. Hook (1991) - should be higher
28. War Horse (2011) - haven't seen it.
27. Always (1989) - should be higher
26. Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983) - OK
25. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) - This movie doesn't exist in my reality. Seriously, frick this movie.
24. The Terminal (2004) - OK
23. Amistad (1997) - OK
22. 1941 (1979) - way underrated in my opinion. should be higher
21. The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) - OK
20. The Color Purple (1985) - should be higher
19. Munich (2005) - should be higher
18. The Sugarland Express (1974) - haven't seen it
17. Saving Private Ryan (1998) - should be way higher
16. War of the Worlds (2005) - meh
15. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) - should be a little higher
14. Empire of the Sun (1987) - that's about right
13. Duel (1971) - Should be much higher
12. The Adventures of Tintin (2011) - Haven't seen it.
11. Catch Me If You Can (2002) - not a bad movie, but nothing monumental
10. Jurassic Park (1993) - Should be higher.
09. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) - Not as bad as most people think. I could do without the shitty little kid and the over abundance of gross out scenes.
08. Minority Report (2002) - Too high up
07. Lincoln (2012) - Boring yawn fest.
06. Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977) - Should be 5th
05. A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001) - bullshite. This movie was a depressing, overly hyped, turd.
04. Schindler's List (1993) - OK
03. E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982) - OK
02. Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
01. Jaws (1975) - This and Raiders shoule be tied

Hook at 10 feels a little high, but outside of Color Purple, I can't really justify moving any movies below it above it.

Also, can we all agree that Raiders of the Lost Ark is arguably the perfect movie? Great performances, compelling villains, romance, adventure, iconic scenes, one of the best film scores of all time.

Yeah - I had the same analysis - obviously I started the list with #28 and #29 - I moved Hook up above every movie I thought was below it.

For that matter, I have Munich at 20 (down 1 spot) - and I should probably work 11 through 20 more to do something with it - but for all practical purposes, my 11 through 20 are all about the same to me, qualitatively.

FTR, I think Spielberg is an excellent filmmaker, just not the be all, end all. He just has a little something for almost everybody - he has a handful of serious films, dramas, action, kids - he's really missing a true horror, animated and a truly great comedy - but other than that, you could do worse than having the Spielberg filmography on a desert island (other than AI and KOTC - just awful).

Temple of Doom above the Last Crusade, and Empire of the Sun? You've got to be kidding me.

I'm glad Yahoo! shares my dislike of Saving Private Ryan. The movement grows stronger. Baby steps.

But the answer for worst Spielberg is clearly 1941.

Maybe in a world where Kingdom of the Crystal Skull doesn't exist.

21. The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997)
29. Hook (1991)
27. Always (1989)

DEEPLY FLAWED BUT STILL GOOD
09. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984)
26. Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983)
24. The Terminal (2004)
13. Duel (1971)

MIDDLE TIER or LEVEL WITH MOST PEOPLE’S BEST STUFF
20. The Color Purple (1985)
05. A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001)
17. Saving Private Ryan (1998)
15. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)
23. Amistad (1997)
11. Catch Me If You Can (2002)

ICONIC BUT NOT AS GREAT AS THEIR REP
06. Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)
10. Jurassic Park (1993)

UNDERRATED AS HELL
19. Munich (2005)
08. Minority Report (2002)

HISTORY REPORTS. GREAT ONES, BUT STILL HISTORY REPORTS
04. Schindler's List (1993)
07. Lincoln (2012)
14. Empire of the Sun (1987)

UNIMPEACHABLE TOP TIER MOVIES EVER MADE

I agree with most of this. Only changes I'd make would be moving Catch Me If You Can into the underrated category and Saving Private Ryan into Unimpeachable category.
