Basically it's a case study in the SJW transformation of society through their vision of the world regardless of the consequences.
Believing a thing doesn't make it so.
But, I'll be damned if they aren't trying to actualize it by repeating it over and over in the hope of making it true.
Sadly, I see too many "men" become feminine and embrace this liberal disease despite it being in complete conflict with what they were meant to be.

Hell, additionally... we see the most feminine of females, these F1 models, rebelling against feminism. If that doesn't throw up some red flags, I don't know what will.
Yet Disney thought it was a good idea to go full investment of SJW into Star Wars?
Yeah. That was always doomed to be a complete frick up.

The porgs were born out of necessity. The island they filmed on was infested with puffins, and it was cheaper to digitally replace them with something than to remove them all together. Hence, porgs.

Look at Rey. The young equal woman. She never trained. She never earned what she has. She never struggled. She never falters. She the most powerful force aware person we've ever seen and she gets that status without a single bit of explanation or character development.
This is still the biggest FU to the previous SWs movies, and the fact that they didn't do something meaningful to cover it up is just plain damning.

Even force born, immaculate conception Vader... and his son, Luke, had to go through Years of training(and months...years... ???) to become a half-assed jedi capable of defeating a sith. And both of them lost their first fight by losing a hand.

Yet, here comes miss desert rat. Fighting a powerful descendent of Vader.... who has been trained in the force. She closes her eyes, says "oh yes. the force." and then acquires all of the powers and skills necessary to become victorious.
frick off.

Maybe a case could be made for the balancing of the force bullshite. For instance, Vader was made and turned evil b/c the light side had become too powerful. On the other hand... after all of the light side had been defeated by the time TFA was made, she was the concentrated personification of all of the power of the light side.
Based on what I've read about TLJ (pardon the bit of puke that just came into my mouth), she flip flops back and forth as Kylo Ren flip flops. ... "to keep the balance".
But even that seems to be a bit bullshite on how she instantly is a Jedi dualist, mind reader, whatever.

You don't have to play make-believe and imbue women and minorities with incredible, inherent power and shite on males in order to create compelling role models. Developing them through conventional methods achieves those goals. And all of this fantasy crap just works to undermine what you are trying to accomplish in the first place.

Additionally, I personally believe it ends up doing more harm than good. It's basically saying, you have to already have these things, skills, talent.... instead of advocating and demonstrating how hard work and overcoming adversity can help you become these things. It's just a cornerstone of character development and the use of the plot to connect and resonate with the audience that Disney has decided is less important than their political campaign.

It's a reflection of the insanity in our society.

People truly want to believe everyone is just born equal and great and no one should have to work or try for anything and everyone gets a trophy.

That's not how the world works. No matter how much these people want to belive it.

Whether your born a genius or a freak athlete or an average guy or whatever, you have to work towards your goals. And you have to fail. And you have to compete. And you have to lose. Losing and failure are necessary steps to success and victory. It's a lesson every kid should learn. And it's a lesson Luke in the OT embodies. And it's a lesson Rey ignores.

I am a star wars fans and liked it, they did a lot of very interesting things with it. Certainly a lot of problems but that is largely the case with a lot of the star wars films. I felt that the new things they did far outweighed the bad and poorly handled aspects which have been discussed over and over (over the top cheesiness, unecessary characters / storylines). I enjoyed it as much as TFA I think and am looking forward to re watching it.

The main reason i liked the movie was the Kylo / Rey scenes, they made the movie. Particularly in the throne room after Kylo kills snoke are some of the best since and including the OT. I really look forward to the next movie and seeing how they play this relationship out - I personally hope the next movie is Rey attempting the redemption arc for Kylo and him dying in the end, effectively ending the skywalker line and the force is "open" to a wider range of people.

I don't especially like how snoke died, i will wait on the next movie before rending full judgement once i see how they deal with the antagonist in the next one.

The movie was very different, more philosophical so to speak, and I found myself more intrigued with the nature of the force than I have in a long time. As far as what they "did to Luke", i mean he isn't the classic, unwavering hero anymore but that didn't have the same negative impact on me that it did on others. His character explored some of the deeper aspects of the force and was the vehicle for bringing some of this to the audience. again i haven't seen this movie in a few months so forgive me if i can't go into more specifics). Personally i feel like his final scene may have been him pulling the yoda / obi wan force ghost spirit thing so we may see Luke again in the next movie.

Regarding Rey, we really don't know a lot about the force but she seems naturally powerful. I don't think the "but she just has nobody's as parents how can that be" camp is really accurate as outside of the skywalker lineage, I haven't seen a lot of evidence of blood being important - which also seems to be an overarching theme in this trilogy. But her being naturally powerful isn't really a fault of TLJ given she overpowered Kylo in TFA and it never bothered me in either film.

I agree. Those 7 out of 152 minutes were very interesting.

How about training? Practice? Meditation? Dedication? Mentorship?

Have you ever noticed those themes?

Well i liked all of the kylo and all of the rey scens, including her training with luke - but them together was the best stuff out of star wars in a long time.
