I mean he doesn't hurt her or anything

spoiler below i guess

Supposedly he pretends like there are raiders that are here to kill the caretakers and advises her to do nothing as it will just make things worse in the end and she should only do what is necessary to maintain balance. But she ignores him to run in and save the day but he was telling her a lie to teach her the lesson and no raiders were coming to kill the caretakers.

Nah, it's like a company bought it and decided they wanted a good ROI over remaining loyal to a shrinking group of fans.

The problem is that the supernerds already had their ideas for the original characters, and when TLJ went in a different direction, its broke them.

That's just about the lowest bar you could possibly have for a character. There are plenty of people that haven't hurt me that I despise.

The third lesson is supposedly some deleted scene about maintaining balance that made Luke look like even more of a prick.

A horde of pirates land on the beach and proceed to start Slaughtering the porgs but the porgs and frog nuns are fighting back. Rey wants to help but Luke says she won't be there forever and if she helps the pirates will just come back stronger next time and annihilate everyone on the island. These pirates come all the time and Luke has never interfered because a Jedi doesn't interfere unless Galactic balance is threatened.

Rey tells him to frick off and runs to the beach anyway m whey she gets there she sees it wasn't an invasion at all, but it's a giant glow stick bonfire party the porgs and frog nuns are having and it smash cuts to her using the lightsaber to have a glow stick dance off against a frog nun.

Luke eventually tells her she needs to make her own decisions but balance is important and you can't win every fight.

Not kidding. That's the scene they cut out.

nd luke just fricking dies...what? I guess that fake hand was plastic because I didn't hear a big clink after he died

I actually am no sure that he died. I think he may have become a force ghost thing like Yoda and Obi wan. At the end of Revenge of the Sith, Yoda tells obi wan he has training for him - and then we see him give in to vader in ANH and disappear as he gets struck down. I feel like it would make sense that after the tree thing, yoda could have helped train luke in a similar way and in the end we see the projection and then Luke becoming one with the force ghost field or however you want to put it.

Just speculation though.

Yeah we'll see how good that ROI is when Solo and Ep IX come out.

I just found TLJ interesting enough to enjoy despite all its faults. Like you, i enjoyed TFA because it was Star Wars despite it being lazy and not terribly interesting.

I'll rewatch both from time to time when they are on tv i'm sure.

He was definitely old man dickish throughout, but he cared about her and all in the end.

Did he really? Luke doesn't seem to give a shite about really anything and seems to be a suicidal mess.

that's dying

It used to be. However after TLJ we find out force ghosts can summon lightning from the sky with the snap of a finger. So where the frick were all the force ghost Jedi and their powerful lightening any time anything was happening in any of the last movies?

I don't think that is technically dying in this mythology, but i'd need to go rewatch the attack of the clones cartoons where it gets explained better as Yoda goes through the training. Qui Gon helped guide yoda to it if I remember correctly.

hey we all have different opinions about what stuff means in star wars, who is more powerful, why this happens - its what makes the franchise great.

ETA: but i think Ghost Yoda may have helped Luke come "back to the light" so to speak.
