And that is their first fight scene and happens in the first 15 minutes.

Not really hiding something if you're just getting into your popcorn.

In all honestly would have been stupid to show Arnold vs. Robert Patrick in a trailer without showing him being a more advanced model.

My point is that the movie is set up so the audience could have been surprised at Arnold being the good guy IF they had handled the trailers correctly. And that's why the trailers spoiled that surprise.

Does it count if it's a remake and everyone knows the plot?

The trailer for Cast Away literally summarizes the entire movie from beginning to end including the final shot of the film.

Think of the destruction he causes to the bikers at that bar in the opening scene for him.
It's pretty obvious from the bar scene that Arnold's supposed a good guy in the movie.

A Dogs Way Home trailer appears to be the entire movie.

Trailer

Literally no reason to watch the movie.

There was a movie with Brian Cox called Red. You can see the entire movie from start to end in the trailer. Literally the entire plot is in the trailer.

It was so bad, I made a post about trailers spoiling movies and I laid out the whole plot of the movie.

Jersey Tiger got pissed at me for spoiling the movie. He didn't believe I hadn't seen the movie. It was all there in the trailer even up to the last scene.

I watched the movie and sure enough, every key point in the plot including the survivors was in the trailer.

This was the Brian Cox Red not the action movie with Helen Mirren.

A low budget revenge flick. Heck, if I remember right, John Wick stole the plot from Red. I think some local country boy thugs shot a guys dog. Revenge escalates. Old boy survives.

Honorable mention to The Italian Job showing Donald Sutherland being killed in the trailer.

The fact that there was an obviously evil liquid metal terminator didn't give that away? It was a major plot point, not something like The Sixth Sense. The movie would not have worked otherwise.

The tag line “This time there are two” would have worked. I agree that trailer is a ridiculous spoiler.

You know Brian Cox was also in Red, the action movie from 2010?

I feel like the new Joker trailer told me a lot more than I wanted to know or even speculate about.

They used to spoil movies all the time in the 80s with the voiceovers.

Other notables:

The last shot of Castaway is in the trailer

Batman v Superman trailers reveal Wonder Woman and Doomsday

Soylent Green has the scene with the bodies on the conveyor belt

Carrie (1976) trailer gives away everything

The Island gives away the big twist in the trailer

Gandolf the White shows up in the Twin Towers trailer (not a surprise for a lot of people, but for those who were only just seeing the movies...)

Total Recall's trailer gives away:
1. Arnie's overweight woman disguise
2. Him killing his wife (Sharon Stone)
3. The ending

Speed shows the people off the bus and watching it explode, and the subway scene

What’s the spoiler in Genisys? I literally forgot that movie even existed until I watched the trailer and then it came back to me. I kept waiting for Christian Bale to show up.

John Connor became part of Skynet.

It’s bad. Really bad.

The last shot in Quarantine was in the trailer and on the poster. It became apparent about 5 minutes into the movie how it was going to end b/c of that.

*edit* should have read the thread to see that one was mentioned.

Risky Business included as one of its best gags a fairly long, elaborate sequence involving Tom Cruise's character and his dad's Porsche. It was a perfectly timed bit of business with a great surprise payoff.

Except that it wasn't a surprise, because they not only put the punchline in the trailer, it was even in the :30 second TV commercial

I never saw Genisys, but Alien: Covenant was pretty bad. It had scenes from basically every major action/horror sequence and went through the plot point by point.

Beat me to it. The final scene was literally in the trailers.

Or is it intentionally misleading?
