Agreed. It’s a great show and will hold up. Why people get so obsessed on where it falls against other shows I’ll never understand

Did you enjoy it? That’s all that matters. If not then you never have to watch it again. Period

No...remember, it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish...

Disagree. I didn’t like the last seasons of the office, Seinfeld, and many others but I always watch when they are on.

GOT over Sopranos and Mad Men? No. Taken as a whole, and considering the endings, GOT is not top 5. Hell, I think Rome was a better show overall.

Thats what she said.

But, I think GOT was good for so long you can kind of overlook some of the stuff. I didnt like the ending, but I dont think it was bad enough to forget just how awesome most of the seasons were.

top 50 is all you're giving it.
All TV shows, all networks, all genres, of all time? I'd probably give it top 15. Maybe 50 was a little strident.

will you re-watch GOT?

I won't, so I can't say it is a GOAT contender for me.

Definitely.

But I probably rewatch shows more than most. I've rewatched GOT seasons 1-6 at least twice. But being honest, I kind of have to. My memory is incredibly bad so I have to rewatch stuff just to remember things.

If its a favorite show of mine, i'll rewatch it. I've already watched every episode except for the finale for season 8.

I've already re-watched it nearly two times, so it was definitely damned good.

After seeing how it ends, I don't know how I could watch it again with a straight face. So many of my favorite scenes will now seem meaningless and/or out of place. I mean how can you love revel in Dany's triumph's after last night? Or Jon's? How can you pity Sansa knowing what a jar-headed bitch she becomes?

Full disclosure, I never liked Sansa and only really pitied her when she was stuck with Ramsey.

Fair enough, I've re-watched the Wire a few times, Sopranos, a few others - comedies aren't really the same cause you can throw on a Simpsons or Seinfeld episode randomly without committing to the whole thing.

Not with the garbage finale I read about.

I see no reason to rewatch the series now.

Like LOST, much of the earlier plots seem pointless.

I'll never understand this logic. Are all the scenes with Rob Stark pointless because he dies?

Unfortunately, no. Like most things, everything is judged by how it finishes and GoT finished horribly. I’m not talking about the character endings or plot lines necessarily, I’m talking about writing and execution.

That's crazy talk. Would you genuinely tell someone to not watch the first 4-5 seasons because the last two seasons have inferior dialogue?

Of course. It wasn't perfect, but if for nothing more than the cultural phenomenon it became. Absolutely incredible TV, to be sure.

why not? A show is a show. A 3-season show shouldn't be punished (in your eyes) because they decided to wrap it up instead of dragging 8-10 seasons and not knowing how to end it.

He isn’t saying it should be punished, just that it isn’t really fair to compare the 2.

Lost is not in the GOAT conversation and it isn’t even really close. Messy storyline, stupid time traveling plot line. Events put into the story and expecting some type of pay of but literally nothing happens. The entire last season is pretty meh.

This just isn't true.

LOST changed the way people watched TV. It was right as social media was hitting and was the first show put under a microscope, people discussing and dissecting every single frame, entire websites and communities created for discussion.

It was huge back then. It might not seem like it now but LOST was a huge TV event and also was one of the first shows to have the character development on the level it did. It was also around the same time HDTV hit, so LOST had this instant movie like feel in the pilot bc of the cinematography.

People got caught up on the "mystery box" and demanded answers from the show, and the expectations were sky high for the end of it. The ending was super divisive which is NOT a bad thing.

Like the show or not, LOST changed television forever, and ushered in the Golden Age of TV we are still in right now with shows like TWD, GOT, BrBa, BCS, etc. LOST was highly influential on every show that followed it. You don't have to like it to know that it was a game changer.

The same exact stuff happened with GOT. It captivated people, and changed TV. It has by far the best cinematography of any TV show. It made the Fantasy genre mainstream. EVERYONE watched it, I mean people from all walks of life.

GOT will go down as a GOAT. It's in the Breaking Bad, Wire, etc category

Look how much talk is on this board.

Look how many youtube talking points for the show there are

scroll your Facebook and see the talk and memes

I can not think of a single show that has had THIS much attention for this long. Yes...it is easily that good. Sure, the writers sucked in the end but it doesn't change from the fact that it's an incredible show and is absolutely one of the best ever made.

See how many arse hurt people there are about the ending? That means those arse hurt people were emotionally invested deeply into the story for 8 seasons. If that doesn't make it a great show...then what does?

try telling them that though. its crazy the amount that this season has ruined the show for them.
