Comedy doesn't translate well to different cultures IMO. Like that Bean character is really funny in Europe but most here think it's stupid...which it is.

Lots of referential humor and colloquialisms that wouldn't translate.
This. Seinfeld is the cynical American experience, that means negative humor, lots of idiosyncrasies that are very American specific.
"Friends" is the kind of stereotypical American existence. Fairly light, more happy and positive. International folks probably like it as the stereotypical American ideal that they might love.

It was the lack of gifted oranges that did it in IMO

Because Friends is so much easier to understand in translation.
It's not neurotic and nuanced. Plus, it has far better looking people than Seinfeld.

This. Perhaps it doesn't translate well. They are pretty bad people. And not pretty.

Not to hijack the thread but you can learn a lot about a country based on their favorite US shows.
Germany seems obsessed with crime mysteries...
2015 ratings...
1. CSI
2. NCIS
3. Bones
4. CSI - Cyber
5. NCIS - Los Angeles
Russia is in love with fantasy...
1. Game of Thrones
2. The Librarians
3. Body of Proof
4. Once Upon a Time
5. Dragons
Argentina is stuck in the 90's...
1. Simpsons
2. ER

Seinfeld relied largely on irony, which isn't a big comedic tool outside of the U.S./Canada/U.K.
Also, it helps to know some nuances in American pop culture to fully appreciate Seinfeld.

Simply put, Friends is a more accessible type of comedy than Seinfeld.

She's still on that run, in my opinion.

Friends was great but one big strength was it was very hip, but is now very dated, but people outside the US probably don't get that outdated vibe from it and think it's hip. Look at how many guys around the world that dress like Chandler even today.

Sounds like you mean Seinfeld is high-brow.

New York and its culture is such a big part of this show its almost hard to believe it even caught on in the rest of the country. I can't relate to this show or any of the characters in any way but its still great. Other shows from that era like Home Improvement, Roseanne, and Family Matters are more relatable to middle America and probably the rest of the world.

If you can't understand the jokes in Seinfeld you probably don't need to watch anymore tv.
Friends is basically a chick click. So stupid. Yet so many mindless people watching so there's that.
