Seinfeld is neurotic humor, heavy on irony and cultural references. A lot of the jokes are based on colloquialisms that only an American or maybe another citizen of the Anglosphere would understand or even puns that only work in English.
I definitely agree with the poster who referenced Mr. Bean. Brits think he's the funniest character known to man. I can't even crack a smile watching that crap; it's terrible. And that's a comedic act in my own language, from my ancestral homeland. I can definitely see why Seinfeld's humor wouldn't be funny in Azerbaijan.

solid post.
Somewhat off topic, but I wonder if foreign countries repeat famous catchphrases from these shows like is common in America. Like do people in India use "master of your domain" or "we were on a break" in everyday conversation.

If this is getting translated into other languages, I think the jokes and situations in Friends are easier to translate than Seinfeld. Neither show has more American elements, but the Friends humor is easier for foreigners to identify with.
I cannot even imagine how George and Kraemer come off with foreign language voice-dubs.

Bean is hilarious. Don't start that stuff up in here.

I have a couple of friends in Australia who love Seinfeld, so I'm gonna assume the OP means Friends is more popular in countries where English isn't a primary language. With Seinfeld, it's not always what they say, but how they say it which makes it so damn funny, so it'd probably fall flat if it was dubbed with different actors. Meanwhile, Friends has a typical "set-up, punchline, rinse and repeat" formula, which probably works with whomever is saying it.

Because Friends is funnier that Seinfeld.
And so is Curb Your Enthusiasm

Are the situations in Seinfeld more inherently American and harder to interpret for foreigners where friends is just a high level Sit-Rom-Com?

I can't take anyone seriously that thinks Friends is better that Seinfeld. Friends is a great show. Seinfeld is the GOAT.
