Of all the bad in the those three movies, and there was A LOT of bad, the one that makes it hardest for me to watch is the transformation they attempted with Anakin. Why didn't they just make him a kid who wasn't very nice to begin with (no real conflict), that would have given a much easier and possibly more gradual transformation to the dark side, it definitely would have been more believable. All they had to do was make Obi-wan somewhat blind to it due to his friendship, which is kinda what you get out of the original story when Old Ben tells the story to Luke in the original.

It also makes the scene in ROTJ more believable since the Emperor didn't ever see Vader with conflict. I mean for three movies he basically a good kid who is somewhat confused and is willing to whatever it takes to save his family, yet the Emperor never see him turning on him to save Luke. The two sets of films just don't fit in the main story line.

This is actually an incredible point. I have never really thought about it enough but you make a hell of an argument. Anakin goes dark to save his family yet the Emperor never saw that he might go back light to save his family again.

More like it's cool for the prequel generation to knight for episodes 1-3. Even the original cast members have come out recently and said that the sequels should be more character based, like the original 3 were. That's where Lucas whiffed on the prequels. That and the acting was flat out shitty. There was no Harrison Ford, not even close.

The first 2/3s of episode III should have been Episode I and don't have him turning completely to the darkside yet...let II be where he secretly becomes a sith and III be when all hell breaks loose and he becomes darth vader....could have had III with half hte movie as VAder in full suit being a bad guy

well for starters they are bad movies
i watched a youtube series of 7 - 10 minute videos showing just how shitty the Phantom Menace truly was. The characters are undefined, the plot makes no sense if you follow the story, so many questions remain unanswered by the dialogue as if everything that was happening should be understood bu the audience. Script was written by an 8 year old who isnt exactly trying for the scholar's bowl.

Jar Jar was bad, but there was so much worse about Episode 1.

I mean Red Letter Media summed it up best-It was a movie for kids, so lets open it with slow dialogue about a damn tax embargo on a planet nobody cares about. Then lets have the bad guys have the jedi in a sealed room and try to kill them, but instead of poisoning their tea, let's pump in poison gas that is both visible and has an odor....then within two minutes, let's open the door instead of waiting for the jedi to slowly die from the poison gas.

Plus the fricking droids were useless. In the originals, 5 stormtroopers were like oh shite, get to cover or we need to be sneaky here. a room full of storm troopers meant gtfo of there...now. In the prequels, the jedi are constantly fighting dozens of droids as if there is no risk at all. I mean effortless swings and deflections makes for really bad action scenes.

I heard topher grace (maybe toby mcguire) was given lucasfilm prequel hard drives and allowed to recut the I-III for a one -off private viewing. He pretty much cut it down to one movie and was supposedly pretty awesome. Bet there's a full review out there somewhere.

The only good thing about the prequels was the saber battle in Phantom Menace. Best of all 6 movies IMO.

There is zero tension or emotion.

I thought the prequels made Anakin complete. To really understand why he was evil and how he became that way truly does the character justice.

No, it completely contradicts what we learned in the original trilogy:

"Vader was seduced by the Dark Side of the Force."

But he wasn't, he was duped into it. He should have been dabbling in it from the start, but really he just did it because he was fooled by the Emperor. Vader should have been mostly responsible for his own fall, not fooled into it. I would have had him directly murder Padme for instance, only to realize too late what he's become.

I thought the way he turned from being a good guy one scene and then killing younglins the next was rushed and not believable.

Seriously, Anakin shouldn't have been full-blown evil by the end of the prequels, just make it where he's gone to the point of no return. 20 years in a cyborg suit where his dick has been burnt off, he can't eat or drink anymore, and he's lost his love through his own faults is plenty of time for him to become the incredibly ruthless psychopath we know from the original trilogy.

Honestly, I like RotS a tad bit more than Jedi. Yeah, Jedi does have much greater heights with the Emperor's Throne Room scene, but I still think Jedi is much more inconsistent. Blasphemy, I know, but it's just how I feel.

They do get more hate than they deserve but I still enjoy them. Even the awful Attack of the Clones. The main reason they are panned is wooden acting, cartoon special effects instead of practical effects, Jar Jar, and simplistic plots.

Revenge of the site is really the one where I'm constantly questioning every single character. It would be perplexing to an 8 year old how fricking stupid every character in the movie is. Add in the most boring, over the top light saber battle, noooooooooooo!, and wrapping all of this stupid shite up so it's exactly where we find it 20 years later, aaah I can't do it. What's more inconsistent than the first 15 minutes of sith?

Is Jedi on par with 1&2? No. Luke's never really tempted with anything, but there is so much going on in those throne room scenes that I don't care that everything else was meh especially knowing everything in the prequels is a complete turd. I do think some of the ideas in phantom menace could've been great if put into the hands of a capable screenwriter and director.

Yeah, they made him a whiny little bitch and he really never was friends with obi wan. But the worst was making him some kind of messiah.

Hopefully when Lucas dies they will reboot the prequel trilogy and leave the originals alone. Only a pipe dream I guess
