Why didn't people get mad at Jenny?

When she gave birth to Forest's son and didn't tell him about it for 6 years? He was left out of getting to see his son grow up.
Why does that never come up? Just another reason Jenny is a self-centered, conniving bitch.

People get very mad at Jenny. I can see her side though. She was sexually abused by her father from a young age. She's fricked up white trash. She didn't want to be with Forest, she wanted a friend, but her past sexual abuse caused her to "abuse" him. Pretty common for people who were molested. That kid wasn't his, she just knew he was the only male she ever knew would take good care of the kid. She didn't even do the gold digger thing to him when she obviously could have.

I think in the movie, Forest is the father. The movie doesn't shed any doubt in that. So I think we are supposed to believe Forest is actually the father, and in the movie he is the actual father. Yeah?
Edit:
Maybe I'm in the minority, and I'm wrong. I never assumed the kid wasn't actually his. That takes away a lot of the heartfelt connection between Forest and his son.
I don't like that. I'll choose to believe Forest is the dad.

To answer the OP, single moms probably weren’t that unusual by the early 80’s in waitressing circles.
I’m with you. The very last scene where they both tilt their heads confirms it for the audience.
Jenny gets a lot of hate for being so horrible, but honestly, she spent her life looking for something and never found it. So she settled on the security that Forrest provided. She bailed when he asked for something she couldn’t give. She only found him again after she got AIDS (assuming from some sort of drug relapse after the birth of little Forrest) and needed that same security for their child. Forrest was never her great love like she was his.
But yeah, she was a selfish drugged out whore who used Forrest when she needed him.

Who didn't get mad at this? I thought it was well established that she was a count that took advantage of and used Forest. That's just one of the many things she did that made her an evil bitch.

I think it's a very good chance it wasn't his kid but she wanted him to raise him for her since she was dying.

The movie makes it very clear that it's his kid.
I get the demons Jenny had to deal with, but that doesn't excuse her from being a shitty person who continuously used and took advantage of a mentally handicapped person.

1- It’s definitely Forrest’s kid. Their mannerisms are too alike and the timeline matches between when they hooked up and when he was born.
2- Jenny knows she’s dying, so, like any good mother, she sets up her kid with a damn good life while guaranteeing that someone will look out for Forrest as he ages.
3- She gives Forrest what he always wanted by marrying him.
Her dad messed her up pretty good. She wanted to escape that life and Forrest reminds her of the life she is so desperate to escape. She doesn’t care about him because she doesn’t care about herself. She does shitty things to herself and others and almost jumps off a building because of her inability to love herself and others. It’s only until she has little Forrest that she learns how to care about someone else. That’s her arc and growth. She did some really bad/mean/selfish things, but does right by the two people she’s learned to love the most in the end.
(Also, Forrest isn’t naive when it comes to her. He tells her off at one point (“I know what love is…”) which causes her to leave.)

Well, yes. But Jenny was also a broken person who grew up abused, physically and mentally. It was easy for her to fall into a group of hippies that made her feel loved, even though she was mostly used. Forest was the only person that Jenny felt cared about her at all. She used him, but that's the only way she knew how to be. She wanted his son because she wanted someone to love her unconditionally.

The original (British) House of Cards was excellent and didn't need a remake.
