Hollywood doesn't care about people being married until one of them gets so old, they pass away. Then the audacity to live in the home they have been in since the beginning. And even worse, we tries living out his wife's dream of living in Paradise Falls. They want a tranny that used to white but is also transitioning into a black person, but is confused with life. But the school finally accepts them in the long run. And the parents are lesbian and has gay uncles. You know, cater to the .075% of the population.

A wonderful movie. Kickstarted a string of animated features by the industry.

Coco was a great film with plenty of foreign themes. Quite literally it exposed young children to the ideas of different cultures, and was seen as fantastic by all parties. It's like Pixar used to do the Lion, Witch, and Wardrobe but now only does Golden Compass.

I can’t watch Up. And I say that as a huge compliment.

The first (and only) time I watched up, I was at my parents house with my daughter when she was very little. My wife had something for work and my daughter and I went and stayed at my folks for the night so we could go tag Christmas trees the next morning.

We didn’t have a lot of money at the time before we had kids, so she and I never really travelled or did anything just us. We had a lot of trouble conceiving, and that further limited things. We had talked for a long time about these grand plans for trips, vacations, etc but never really had a path forward to do so. Make matters worse, we wanted to have another baby but knew that would likely mean fertility treatments for which we knew we couldn’t afford.

That first act wrecked me. I mean wrecked me. We literally had a “Second Honeymoon” jar sitting on our dresser that wasn’t getting filled very quickly. I had to leave the room several times to make it thru. The movie was delightful and the entire second half was typical Pixar magic (at the time).

I feel that. First few times i watched Up, I thoroughly enjoyed it and always considered it a great Pixar movie (like all of them at that point). But the last time I watched it was after I was married and it hit way different and way harder. Haven't watched it since.

They fired all their good storytellers and animators and replaced them with hack activists. There's no putting the genie back in the bottle. Disney as we knew it is done.

Then they fell off a cliff post 2018.

Toy Story 4, Onward, and Luca are all excellent.

And Lightyear is really good too (though I get why some people either don't like it or didn't even give it a chance).

I won't say that their quality hasn't dipped, because that is obvious. But there have been some really good-to-great movies since Lasseter left.

I like Up, but it falls apart in the third act for me (once he meets Muntz and the dogs). I still enjoy it, but it was overly ridiculous for me.

But the first act/half is excellent. And the ending message of the movie is one of the best/sweetest Pixar has ever done (with Ellie telling Carl that he was her adventure and all that...right in the feels).

Also, since there is so much Coco talk in this thread, as I said last week, it's top-tier Pixar,

Which ones weren’t in production or green lit when he left? Genuinely curious.

Second best Pixar movie only slightly behind The Incredibles. I love UP and the opening segment is hands down the best thing Pixar has ever created.
