Wait... so your complaint is that, in a hunting scene, the animals they are hunting are the wrong type of deer or whatever for where they are hunting?

Seriously?

Guess he's never seen the many "Hop & Chop" movies that have people floating in the air for 10+ seconds at a time and performing martial arts moves to dispatch their enemies.

Or westerns where opponents have gunfights using revolvers that fire 15 times without being reloaded.

And let's not forget the lone action hero movies where they are going against a group of mercenaries armed with sophisticated arms and he manages to dispatch them all without sustaining a scratch.

You mean to tell me Johnny Weissmuller didn't actually wrestle with live 20 ft. crocodiles in just about every movie he was in and playing Tarzan.......

There are about 10-15 million hunters in America that would beg to differ. Not to mention the non hunters who are very aware of the deer species that exist on this continent. The rest of your post makes sense, I just had to counter this gross misconception Have you ever gone hunting in your life? No judgment here

I’ve gone hunting plenty of times. I couldn’t give less of a shite what about the issues the OP brings up while watching a movie that includes a hunting scene. Like he said the actual technical aspects of most activities doesn’t quite track in a movie.

When my grandfather retired he bought a farm outside Monterey, LA on Horseshoe Lake. He used your cited law to kill any deer on his land. You could fish the bank across the hwy too. That place was heaven on earth for him and his grandsons.

Yet the three movies that you mentioned are all great movies, so who cares?

Exactly. On a sorta related note, I have friends that have some land in Del Rio and the terrain had a natural anthrax outbreak that killed off a bunch of black buck. Crazy.

movies tend to get the nitty-gritty details wrong for virtually every occupation and hobby you could think of.

This is the reason. Movies are not documentaries and don’t concern themselves with the trifling details. The writers/directors aren’t experts at these activities and don’t care to be. I love guns and movies are generally hilariously bad at gun realism but who cares.

I honestly understand everybody’s wtf to my issue, I do. But it’s just something that always bugs me, it doesn’t prevent me from enjoying the movie at all it’s just a little gripe. Just like pistols and shotguns cocking when the point the gun, just a little thing.

I’m honestly curious if there’s an issue with using American deer

Given DDL’s commitment to realism I’m surprised he didn’t demand a whitetail for Mohicans

If the movie was called Last of the Whitetall, and he was playing the deer, he'd know the difference.

Glad I wasn't sitting near this guy in the theater. I'd be trying to enjoy a classic movie (The Deer Hunter) and he'd be pitching about the breed of deer

Of all the things in movies that aren't realistic this is pretty low on the list

They don't do details for anything unless it's specific to that story.

Just look at scenes with computers and the majority of us use them for our day jobs

Almost every coffee or drink cup shown in a movie or TV show is obviously empty. And the actors do a terrible job pretending to drink from them. Even some water in them would provide realism, but they always go with empty air. They’ll take what’s supposed to be a hot Starbucks cup and just turn it up to the sky, which would burn the hell out of them if it were hot coffee.

I read an article about it, with clips of examples, and now I can’t stop noticing it.

Frac the world is actually Ben McDonald and this post is a result of a concussion dropping 25 feet when his deer stand broke.

I loved the hunting episode in Parks and Recreation. However, none of it made any sense on a tactical level. It was complete nonsense and you could tell the writers had no clue what hunting really is.
