i couldn’t figure out who was going to die until she looked so happy after Rick returned and she told him we going be together or so something like that and they focused on how happy she was…I knew then it would be her.
For a minute I thought Rick was going to break up with her and then Saxon was gonna get his shot.

I might be in the minority but I thought Mook was very much a gold digger. She only cares about Gaitok when she thinks he’s moving up to a bigger position, blows him off when he says he’s leaving the WL, and then jumps back to him when he becomes a body guard.
I don't think she's a gold digger at all. I just think she wants and is attracted to a strong alpha type of man, which Gaitok is not. She always knew that, but finally caved and gave him a shot. Then he acted like a pussy a bit on the date, and when he was quitting, she knew he wasn't gonna be able to give her what she wanted.
And even in the end, he's the dude that kills the "bad guy" so he gets promoted to security and all that. But we all know how that went down and how he almost didn't even shoot Rick. It's just not who he is to be a strong man type. So I suspect Mook will grow tired of that pretty quickly and return his arse firmly back into the friend zone.

The biggest letdown of the season for me was not getting more information or resolution from the Ratliff family and all of Tim's illegal bullshite. Every single episode hinged around that and what he would do either to himself or his family, and literally all we got was a "Hey, guys...things are about to change, but we'll figure it all out" statement from him. I didn't expect to see a trial or anything, but I figured we'd at least get some sort of closure with it.
I actually thought the best way for their storyline to end would be he and Lochey being the only ones to survive the poisoning and he gets a voicemail when he gets his phone back that his attorney got the feds to back off and they don’t actually have any evidence
So the family murder/attempted suicide would have all been for nothing and the irony of him finally not wanting to have his phone added to it happening because his lawyer couldn’t get in touch with him

That's one of the things we talked about in the thread a week or two ago that I agreed was possibly on the table.
By the way, I do agree that Lochlan dying would have been a "better" ending for the show. But I was glad he didn't because he is one of the only ones who didn't deserve it (similar to Chelsea). He's a lost soul of sorts, and naive as frick, but he didn't deserve to die. That being said, he's plenty old enough to was that fricking blender before using it. I mean, there was a huge deal made the night before about there being spoiled coconut milk in there, and you knew that.
Also, it's a little weird that nobody else in the family seemed to even be remotely sick from the fruit seeds. They all drank the piña coladas.
The scene with Lochlan explaining to Saxon why he jerked him off was hilarious. "I didn't want you to feel left out, and I'm a people pleaser."

While she did relish being a millionaire, her primary motivation for doing so was to get away from Greg, which is 100% rational given that the $5m gift is an admission of guilt to having his wife killed.

Well ... that was long ride from prep to production to the finale. It seems like most of you enjoyed it as did I, but to a certain extent I was expecting a bit more. I still think the setting, actors and layers were superior to S1+S2, but whether that makes it better is clearly debatable as seen here and out in the wild. It will go down personally as one of the great adventures and work experiences of my life and career. And thanks to the thread participants for putting up with minor spoilers (cameo warnings) and insider musings. It was fun to be read all of the theories and insights --- many were spot on.
Until late 26' for what my guess is for the next premier ... I'm not sure if I will be a part of next season, but things are gearing up for Europe and no doubt MW will mix it up again.

The juxtaposition of these two scenes is pretty great.

if not for Coon’s amazing monologue last night. Their storyline deserved to be there.
Her monologue made me tear up. Long-term female friendships can be complicated and have ups and downs, but at the end of the day we all love, value, and appreciate each other. I have a small group of close friends from college and, almost 30 years later, we're still very close. What she said felt very real to me.
When Lochlan told his dad he thought he saw God, I felt like he accidentally achieved what his brother and sister were purposefully looking for, a spiritual revelation.
I read an article yesterday where one of the writers said something like "everyone is going to hate Mike White" after the finale and that made me think they were going to kill Cheslea off since she's been so universally beloved this season. Had I not read that, I would have been more surprised when she didn't make it. Rick was sort of a surprise, though.
I need a Parker Posey show. I really hope she's on the next season and that they continue the Ratliffe storyline.
Belinda turned into Tanya.
The Russians made it out unscathed because Gaitok believed Valentin's bullshite and Laurie was too embaressed to tell her friends what happened. She was probably also scared of what would happen if she did tell, too. I hope Gaitok and Mook live happily ever after.
I really enjoyed this season. I think it may be my favorite of the three.

Agree with both of those points. The robbery angle was glossed over and Gaitok is a bad person in the end because he gets what he wants in the security detail, but lets Valentin and his boys get away with robbery.

If I could give MW advice for next season, it would be fewer characters to focus on. There were far too many storylines to wrap up in this final episode, and he just couldn't get to it all.

I felt the same. The build up on some of the characters seemed to just end with still wanting more. Particularly with the Duke family. They could make a whole other spin off show and I would watch.
I never got into this thread in real time, because we would watch at least 2 episodes at a time. Was afraid of knowing too much before I made my final theories last night. I thought the Asian guy was going to kill one of the Russians or vice versa.

and also, who tf doesn't rinse out the mixer used from the night before when they are told the milk was bad and left it out overnight. That's just not a well thought out scenario by the writers.
A totally drugged out dad, 3 self centered kids, and a clueless princess wife who wouldn't wash anything at a resort. They all just assume someone does these things for them. Makes perfect sense that they wouldn't wash anything.
I really wish we had seem Saxon's face when he saw the news about their dad.

How did the family not get at least a little bit sick from sipping the pina coladas?

Or start wrapping up some of them earlier. I get that that's his thing, but at the same time is the reason it all felt rushed. You build the storylines all season to have a 30 second conversation end some of them. Not great.

I guess they didn't drink enough. They'd just eaten a big dinner too, so maybe the helped absorb the poison better?

Patrick Schwarzenegger says Mike White "shot two-and-a-half hours for the finale" of "The White Lotus" Season 3 and "boiled it down to 90 minutes. That’s already a stretch for HBO to give."
"There’s so much I wish I knew! I just watched the finale. I wonder if Saxon knew that [SPOILER] died. And when we power our phones on, is that when we know everything about our dad? Mike likes ambiguity. He wants people to have these conversations.

I thought we did right when they got their phones back and turned them on. I think that's why Tim jumped in front of them to say things are gonna change in a big way. You could see the weird reaction from Saxon's face when he saw (likely) his text messages start coming through.

Agreed. Also 100% chance they have a maid at home that takes care of those things too. Just habitual behavior. Add to it Lachlan is a teenager and teenagers do shite like that.

When they first get their phones back there’s a really brief moment where Saxon looks up from his phone with a “WTF did you do” look on his face while looking at his Dad. I think you see the very beginning of it there.
I need Victoria Ratliff either married to some new rich guy at the next resort or working at it.

The seed mix the bottom was still largely intact when Lachlan drank it. I’m just assuming that they didn’t get much in the actual mix in his haste of making it.
