I agree that it does not need to be remade. This was one of my childhood movies, and I feel like, as others have said, a woke 2022 remake of Heavyweights would not be something the fans of the original would like, at least a good majority of them.

Hopefully never. It would include at least two gay fat kids. Potentially one trans fat kid. The comedy wouldn’t hit the same because it would be all about empowering the kids instead of chastising them. Just please don’t ever reboot this. This is one of the movies I can’t wait to show to my kids when they get older.
