I don’t remember Rand doing anything special? When was this?
The darkfriend told him 3 men couldn't knock that door down and Rand did it by himself.

I get it, you’re a reader and he’s probably important, but his character on the show so far is as useless as a case of herpes.
eta: as a reader you should gtfo of this thread.
And I've got to agree with you regarding Matt- just a shitty dude at this point. Thief in their little town; has found ways on how to slack out of everything so far. Went around wanting to steal from corpses. Then stole something from the Forbidden City or whatever. Then fricks over his friends when they're off to face The Dark One (gasp!). I mean, dude probably had some primo weed for his buddies back home, but seems to be someone I'd want to leave behind at this point.
And while this last episode did at least seem to give us some idea as to what's going on, I agree it came across as unnecessarily contrived, and pretty hard to buy. If Moraine is exiled because she refused to divulge info on what she was doing with these kids (and at least the 2 girls both have shown signs of using magic), I find it hard to believe nobody prevents them from leaving with her. I mean, wasn't that kind of her crime to begin with?

yeah, i talked to my friend who turned me on to the serious(books) and i am about half way through with the last book and i am finding it hard to keep watching but i guess will but it isn't appointment television that GoT was.
It looks like something the CW would have produced and not something the richest person in the world would have. It seems rushed and like no character depth. The only reason I am watching right now is the hope it gets better but if they don't do something in these last two episodes Im not sure if I will watch the 2nd season. TBH I may still watch it but not till it is all released. I really started to read the series to have read it before the serious came out but now I am glad that I was able to enjoy the books before being let now by the show.

Mat is a dick, but where you see a case of herpes, I see someone digging a deep hole to make their redemption arc that much sweeter.

She was exiled for refusing to divulge info on where she’s been. I’m pretty sure the entire reason she wouldn’t say where she had been was because she didn’t want any attention to turn to the kids.
Nynaeve was the only one who was on the Aes Sedai radar, so to speak, because of what she did during the fight with Logain. So she was probably the only one that really had to sneak out.
Also I’m pretty sure they didn’t leave with her. I thought that they all left separately during the whole spectacle of her being exiled. But I might be misremembering.

They decide to come up with this elaborate ruse to get her out, you'd think someone would be watching her.

I think there's a disconnect going on here. I assume her meetings were somewhat stealthy, but there's no indications they were. She's meeting openly with them as far as I can tell.
I think the showrunners are maybe too familiar with the books (sounds crazy, but...) and are glossing over details that would sort of guide us in this. As a non-reader, I'm just not impressed by much of it.

All I’ll say and then follow my own rules, of all of the MASSIVE details that you guys don’t talk about at all, all of the small things certain characters have said that you don’t talk about…
You’re worried about how they snuck out of the city? That is something that truly doesn’t matter at all.

We're not worried about it, we're focused on it because that's where the show put our attention. They made a big deal about it and didn't then it didn't seem like a big deal.
I'm sure in the book they showed the entire picture and there were a few hoops to jump through to get everyone out of the city. But this episode the major thing happening was Moraine scheming to control a situation where she was being attacked from all sides. And that part was interesting. Then they yada yadaed over some of the details that should have been there so those missing details are what we're focusing on, even if they're unimportant in the big picture. It may be stupid but we haven't read the books and can only go where the show leads us.
This is probably something we'll just have to deal with for this show. I've read some interviews from the showrunner and he said he has been limited by cutting of episodes (originally 10 but now 8) and budgetary constraints.

It's a big enough plot hole that non-readers are complaining about it. The biggest issue is that it didn't have to be.
Have Egwene mention her ability to channel and Perrin's eyes to the Amyrlin Seat when it was just she, Nynaeve, Siuan Sanche and Moiraine in the room. The Amyrlin's eyes widen, she looks at Moiraine, Moiraine's eyes widen as well (telling Siuan she didn't already know about this) and Siuan instructs Moiraine to sneak them out of the Tower as soon as possible.
After she threatens Liandrin and then warns Rand about being ready to leave she should have prefaced it with "I was a fool to bring you here. Politics within the Tower have become unstable, I fear your lives are in danger. Be ready to leave the city as quickly and quietly as possible", then (after the banishment pronouncement) have her tell Lan "get Rand, Matt and the Builder. Meet us at the Ways Gate" (or however she phrased it).
Bam! Easily understood reasons for everyone to be getting out of Tar Valon and a pre-explanation of what happened off-screen to put them all back together.

If they Captain Planet this thing and make all of them partial dragons I'm gonna have to bail. That would be the quickest way to lose me as a growing fan.

I feel for you, Fun Bunch. I truly do.
It's clear you love those books, and you were super-pumped about this show. I've not read them, but it's a title I recognize (and to clarify: I really haven't read much in the past couple decades, what with family and life needing so much of my time. So to recognize a title when I'm out of the market, I'm sure it's quite good).
I don't think this is the show you were expecting. It may well be able to gain some footing, and start rolling in the future; I don't know. But as of now, I've yet to find much of anything to get excited about.
I'm holding on because I hear the source material is good, but this is NOT must-see for me as of now. Just for episodic enjoyment and anticipation of next episode, Hawkeye is blowing it out of the water. It's not genre-bias, I enjoy fantasy as much as sci-fi or 'comic book superheroes'. But this is just so loose and uneven, to the point where it's both boring and confusing at the same time, lots of times. I can handle one of those, as long as the other is missing: confusing but interesting, or building a good story without any action going on of note- both can be fine for awhile.
There are brief moments where you can see they are trying to inspire something with camera angles, but they're not conveying things at a high rate right now. The knowledgeable reader might be able to interpret something and know it's going somewhere, but the uninformed viewer is having a hard time slogging through and finding something worth following.

World-building... that's something major that is missing.
I have watched all the episodes, and still have very little knowledge about this world. Like, at all. I don't want to watch something else on Amazon to fill in the blanks, it needs to be done organically in the show
