Rocky IV “War” the score when Rocky is fighting Drago. Gets me pumped and ready to take in the commie bastards.

I'm the same - there are just so many.

The first time, though, still resonates:

Pretty much ALL the music in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, but especially the music during Spock's death scene.

The fact that it trails into Kirk's speech and Scotty playing Amazing Grace on the bagpipes is rough - especially for a kid who grew up watching the character (my dad was HUGE into the OG Star Trek, so I watched those reruns a LOT).

Tidbit: My mom loved it so much, from the moment we first saw the movie she wanted Amazing Grace played on the bagpipes at her funeral. I had to find someone in Birmingham who could do that, but managed to ensure there was a musician who could do so when she passed away.

My first call would be the "Chariots of Fire" song

But after that,

I also thought this was a great scene. I have always been a Star Trek fan and this was a great scene. Especially if you know the context of the movie

Out of Africa.

Along with the cinematography, it puts you in the pinnacle of colonial Africa in the springtime. And makes Meryl’s fake accent bearable.

Dark horse candidate, but I'll be damned if the phone call scene at the end of Blood Diamond didn't make me misty-eyed, and James Newton Howard's score was a big part of that.

Travesty that DiCaprio didn't get an Oscar for his performance.

Some of the scores from the first few Star Trek (the originals) films were simply amazing - especially TMP, Wrath of Kahn and Voyage Home.

For the whole movie I would put Chariots of Fire and Out of Africa near the top. We also have to include the great Western music of the Magnificent Seven, Once Upon a Time in the West, and the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.

The scene in Platoon when William Dafeo is running to the helicopter

That is Barber's Adagio for Strings and used throughout Platoon and a ton of other movies. For a long time it was the unofficial bereavement music for the US. It was used it after JFKs death and at FDR's funeral.

To the OP Chariots of Fire had a moving score.

Jerry Goldsmith had some great ones. The Poltergeist theme captured Carol Anne’s innocence perfectly.
