I have 4 that stand out as being jaw-droppers that gave me goosebumps:

The Dark Knight opening night in IMAX. First time I can remember people clapping during a movie.

Also, when Luke shows up at the end of Force Awakens. Goosebumps. Man, I thought we were in for one of the great sequels of all time. If only I had known then...

The first Guardians of the Galaxy opening night in IMAX. The crowd was so amped, it was a blast.

The Mist (2007)

Sitting mid row and a feminine guy on the top row phone rings. He answers it and starts a conversation. Guy on the same row as me tells the guy to hang up the damn phone.

Fem guy: "I paid for my ticket just like you did sir" and continues to carry on with his convo.

Guy on my row stands up and is like 6'7. He walks up to the top and gets in the guy's face and calls tells him to hang up the phone while calling him an inconsiderate cocksucker.

Fem guy: "This is a very important phone call"

All of a sudden, guy at the bottom of the theater shouts "WELL TAKE IT OUTSIDE"

6'7 guy takes guy's drink and throws it.

Security is called.

Sneaking in Show Town Drive-In theater with my dad. I remember we parked at some apartments and walked through a field and came out from behind the screens.

Half the Village St George neighborhood was there watching Stir Crazy. I was too little to understand the movie but that was one awesome night.

Still the funniest movie I've ever seen in a theater. I was 24 yrs old living in Dallas after graduating LSU. Saw it at a Cinemark off the Tollway I believe. Very memorable.

My buddy and I saw Caddyshack at 19, and literally fell out of our seats laughing. Could barely breath during the Bill Murray ball cleaner scene.

Django Unchained was pretty fricking epic. People were howling laughing there was a lot of cheering. Definitely one of the most lively theater experiences I've had and the movie was excellent.

Watching the original Top Gun in a packed theater where 80% of the crow were Student Naval Aviators. Very enthusiastic cheers throughout. Dead silence during the volleyball scene until someone in the crowd shouted out "Get back in your planes, you homos!"

What I remember most about The Dark Knight is going to the midnight premiere at AMC O'Neal and their running the movie in every single theater at the same time and the hour long traffic jam getting everyone out of that parking lot at 3am.

-after Saving Private Ryan and American Sniper people just sat in their seats silent for minutes

- while it was terrible, I was the only person in the theatre for Episode 8.

- dumb and dumber- full theatre which made the jokes seem even funnier. laughed that entire time

- dont remember the movie but before one, between the end of trailers and start of movie, its dead silent and some teen yells out "no I will not make out with you" from Billy Madison and it was just funny as hell

Watched Saving Private Ryan at a theater in OKC and it was the same way. When people finally started leaving the theater it was somber with no one saying a word it was like leaving a funeral for a close friend.

Probably Inception.

I just didn't really know anything about it and it was unlike anything I'd ever seen. One of the few movies where I remember being jealous of people who hadn't seen it yet because they got to go through the whole thing for the first time.

Odd choice I know, but my most memorable experience was seeing Top Secret! in the theater. I was already laughing as it was, but when Omar Sharif entered the room in that crushed car outfit, these three black dudes sitting next to me started howling with laughter, and couldn't stop... their laughter made me laugh even harder, to the point where our section became the center of attention

My most epic movie experience was watching a re-release of Lawrence of Arabia at an old-school movie palace in Washington DC. Everything was just so huge and majestic. Felt like the glory days of movies.

Other memorable trips to the theater were watching Pulp Fiction with friends and a rowdy crowd on campus in college, and watching The Dark Knight on opening weekend.

Finally, not really a theater, but I once watched The Big Lebowski on an outdoor screen at a Lebowski festival. People were dressed up and drinking white russians. It was fun.
