Sci-Fi that seems close to realistic. (The Expanse etc.)
Naval warfare
WW III scenario
Serial Killers that get caught and suffer.

Sports movies.
Used to be super hero movies before Marvel overload.
Spinoff question:
Do movie plots attract you to movies, or does the cast attract you more?

Anything where a British woman (English more often than not) is talking. Won't sugarcoat it - I like British women.

Any movie with Zombies - can they be killed? Sometimes. Well, it depends...yes...no...maybe.
I'm out.

Funny Whodunits
Slapstick
Madcap
Comedy of Errors
Grizzled vet gets drawn back in to the action to save the day
Anti-hero has to kick arse for his former enemies in a redemption arc.
A seemingly normal man snaps and takes revenge
A mysterious gunslinger/warrior rolls into town and takes revenge on a corrupt city/town
Pirates
A man-killer is terrorizing the people and a hunter must come in to match wits with the beast
An unlikely series of events and mistaken identities unfold in an English Gangster setting
Two warriors are locked in a battle of wit and skill set against a larger backdrop of a raging war
A group of unlikely youngsters outwit authority figures and bad guys to solve the mystery and save the day.
A ragtag group of rebel survivors strike out against an invading force
A master of disguises uses a series of characters to accomplish his task (and usually get the girl in the process)
A dark comedy where the wrong man is in the right place at the wrong time and calculated chaos unfolds.
Thriller with a supernatural bent and a clever, malevolent antagonist against a pair of protagonists racing against time
Can you match a film with each?

The protagonist(s) must go around and assemble a crew of oddball characters to accomplish their mission/plan/heist.

Not so much a plot, but if executed well, I love a good false ending.
i.e. Prisoner of Azkaban, The Ring.

1. Spies, particularly WW2 and cold war
2. Heist
3. War, where you kick their arse.
4. War, where you're outnumbered.
5. Elite military team being hunted in South American jungle by a creature that uses advanced cloaking devices and weaponry when it gets hot.
6. Propping up your dead boss for a weekend at his lavish beach house while you try to plug the hot intern from your office.

I love anything where the protagonist has nothing, but goes to a safety deposit box and gets out a bunch of cash in various currencies from around the world along with guns, ammo, and passports lol. Obviously the Bourne Identity, but others like US Marshalls. For whatever reason, if a movie has this scene, I'm in.
