The Prophecy or Lord of Illusions. I used to catch about three movies a week at the dollar theater. These were so bad. I fell asleep during one of them. And it didn’t bother me.

Spongebob movie from 2004 was awful to sit through with the kids.

Moonrise Kingdom. Wasn’t aware it was a Wes Anderson film and his brand of humor isn’t for me.

Enchanted with Amy Adams. Only stuck around because I though my date was into it. Turns out she hated it too. Horrible.

Whut? There’s a difference between worst movie and movie you just don’t like because it’s a style you don’t like as evidenced by you not liking Wes.

Mordecai (2015) was an awful comedy. I see what they were going for, but it was a complete flop. Paul Bettany was the only good part of that movie. Hard to believe Johnny Depp put out that pile of trash right around the same time as Black Mass, which was one of his best ever performances. Must have badly needed the paycheck.

I also saw the Last Jedi around Christmas 2017 with a bunch of friends who were also big Star Wars fans. I went in expecting it to be bad, after watching multiple reviews panning it, but it was even worse in person than I could have imagined. We all walked out of the theater in stunned silence. I started losing my shite laughing somewhere between the casino planet nonsense and Rose ruining Finn’s moment. It took a good three days to process how bad it truly was. I still can’t believe the idiots at Disney let Rian Johnson throw a grenade into the second act of their billion-dollar trilogy.

“Beasts of the Southern Wild”

Just a god-awful movie that many white knighted because it was filmed in LA. The most common praise “great cinematography.” Okay, Scorsese.

I guess it's not surprising to see a couple of Darren Aronofsky films mentioned in this thread (The Fountain and Mother!) but I love his stuff.

I saw Mother! twice in the theater but I remember other people in the theater talking loudly about how much they hated it when it ended.

Better than walking in there seeing it with a 95% critic review calling it the best Star Wars of all time and then just being sucker punched at how awful it was. I was lying to myself about Rey, Kylo Ren, and Luke stuff being pretty good but knew the rest of the film was a disaster, but by lunch the next day I just had to admit is was downright awful.

Downsizing might be the worst I've sat through in a theater. I wanted to leave 40 mins into it but was with a buddy - turns out he hated it too but we both sat it out cause we didn't know we both weren't enjoying it

It's a tough question, I can't think of too many truly awful movies I've seen in theaters.

I mean, yes... The Last Jedi, The Phantom Menace; you can call them bad. They're generally dumb, irritating and annoying. But they're polished, the effects are exponentially better than a lot of things out there.

I don't think I saw Battlefield Earth in the theater, that is pretty damn bad.

I saw something at a drive-in once, it was sci-fi... I just looked it up:
Laserblast.

That has to be objectively one of the worst movies made, based on film tech of the time.

I haven’t seen it, but reading the plot summary, it’s impressive how quickly that plot goes off the rails.

There are some good movies in this thread.

Man, some of you have really high standards or are super discerning in the movies you see.

I'll watch anything once...(except found footage horror or Leprechaun movies.)

I mean there's a lot of crap out there...while not his best, I wouldn't lump Moonrise Kingdom in with Plan 9 From Outer Space or Jack and Jill.

The Family Stone

Marketed as a fun Christmas comedy.

Which it was not. At. All.
