It’s not my favorite and it’s not a movie, but I enjoyed the vampires in True Blood as a campy alternative to some of the darker portrayals. I prefer the darker ones—gun to my head, I’d probably go with Gary Oldman in Braham Stoker’s Dracula as my favorite single vampiric performance in film.

How can anyone forget the campy excess of Bordello of Blood? Dennis Miller was at the top of his game.

One time when working at a theater, we showed this low budget piece of shite Christmas movie. It starred Lorenzo llamas and Danny Baldwin. I, like you, loved John Carpenter’s Vampires so I brought along my copy in hopes of getting Danny to sign it and talk with him for a bit. Well, sure as hell, here comes Danny up at the concession stand to grab a drink and I whip out the dvd and ask him what his favorite scene was from the film. He leans in and says, “I loved making that movie. You know the part where I get bit and I had that uzi? I shot that fricker into the air and took the barrel of the gun and cauterized the wound with it. That was my idea. I talked to John about doing it and he loved the idea.” I still have the signed copy.

Lost Boys
Salems Lot
Fright Night
Dracula
Vampires
Dusk til Dawn
Blade I & II
Midnight Mass (if allowed)
Most vampire movies are campy garbage. I'd love to see another attempt to make a high quality film like Bram's. A vampire western would be fun. Full on, series cowboy shite. Gritty, Clint Eastwood style... but with vampires.

Something like that would be interesting. Cowboys vs. Aliens did this with the sci-fi genre.

Thirst a Korean movie directed by Park Chan-Wook. I just watched it last month so it could be a recency bias thing but I loved it.

Gotta agree with you on Near Dark and The Lost Boys.
Both vamp classics.
Also would throw in Lifeforce. An unconventional vampire movie, but well worth watching...

I'm a sucker for the Hammer Dracula films. Even the lesser ones.
Same, Christopher Lee was a great Dracula; but never liked Jack Palance in the role but I do like JP.
Others I really like in no particular order:
Dracula (Bela Legosi set the standard)
Fright Night (first/second one not the remake)
Shadow of the Vampire
Dracula Untold
My Best Friend is a Vampire
Stake Land was better than I expected
John Carpenter's Vampires
The Fearless Vampire Killers
Lifeforce
The Lost Boys
Dracula (1979 w/ Frank Langella)
Dracula 2000 (just because it had an interesting twist)
Transylvania 6-5000 (Gina Davis made a sexy vampire)
tempted to add Vamp with Grace Jones but I think I need to rewatch this one first as it's been a while and may not have aged well
