MRS. SWEEDLER:
Mr. Costanza, come in, come in. It's been a very trying couple of days around the hospital. Patients, doctors, everyone, just grief stricken over this unfortunate occurrence.

GEORGE:
Well, I join them in their grief.

MRS. SWEEDLER:
Horrible, just a horrible thing. Flew right past the children's wing. All the sick children, in the playroom, looking out the window, just traumatize by the incident. Apparently, they all thought he was flying. You know how children are, "Oh look. A man is flying. A man is flying" And then, splat...

GEORGE:
Yes, splat. Exactly. Splat. That's where I come in. On splat. You see, Mrs. Sweedler, or is it hospital administrator Sweedler?

Yes that’s good writing and character development, but Jason Alexander had such a sneaky good delivery for these lines even though they weren’t the hilarious outlandish ones.

Rankings here are basically 1A-1D.

I think a lot depends on age. I was a youngster during Seinfeld's live run so obviously I thought kramer was the funniest character ever. Once I got into late 20s and into my 30s and real "adulthood" George just resonates so much harder.

His lies & omissions, whether used to fake affluence/prestige for attention/sex or simply used to avoid the awful truth, were a constant source of side-splitting laughs when exposed.

The "marine biologist" one may have been his best lie. I also thoroughly enjoyed the secret Bosco omission.

I’d flip Kramer and George but do love them both. Big gap down to Jerry and Elaine for me, the former two are much funnier and have better stories.

George makes the Big Salad scene work. He is the one that flips out because he doesn't get credit for getting the salad for Elaine because his girlfriend hands it to her. Elaine is just the subject of the joke.

Isn’t George based on Larry David? So if you like Curb you like George.

Watching the show and mentally imagining Larry in place of George/Jason Alexander makes it all make so much sense

Unquestionably.

While Jerry certinly got animated, he was closer to a straight man (like Dean Martin or Bud Abbott) used to facilitate the hysterical lunacy brought by the others (Jerry Lewis, Lou Costello).

George had the single best line in the show. It was hilarious, but if you think on it more, it's a definition of his entire character.

George was the show. The show don't work without George.
His insane antics drove me episodes and more arcs than anyone else..

That line is indeed great, as well as just do the opposite. It did land him a job with the Yankees.

Every scene with George and his parents are better than just about every scene without. When you rewatch a show and you remember George is about to be with his parents you get excited, because you know it's about to get hilarious. Best dynamic of the show to me.

Because you have 3 absolute comic geniuses in those scenes. Each of his parents were funny in so many other roles as well.

Frank Costanza had the highest % of laughs to screen time in the show. I don’t think he had a scene that was not funny.

And not just because of his lines. Jerry Stiller was perfection in that role

I think “what the hell did you trade Jay Buhner for” is a top 5 Seinfeld line for me. I love that scene.
