Pennywise can manipulate emotions and memories, often using past trauma, guilt, and shame against his victims. His influence over the mind can manifest as hallucinations, illusions, and even dream manipulation, blurring the line between reality and nightmare for those he targets.

Also fun fact if the theater owner does get sent to Shawshank the timelines do match up with Red and Andy

Yeah we get he uses hallucinations. It’s how he changes forms. My point still is I don’t think we’ve ever seen someone go through something like what happened to Marge where she thought she was changing from the hallucination and then tried to harm herself.
Why didn’t pennywise just make bill think Richie was turning into a werewolf so bill would shoot him? That’s just one example. If he can do this, he should’ve had an easier time killing kids

This definitely felt out of character for Pennywise. And if it was all in her head then what was she hacking away at with the chisel that caused all the blood? Felt like lazy writing to get Lilly caught in a situation to look like she was trying to hurt someone.

His motivation is fear. He prefers that they stay as scared as possible for a long time prior to the kill. He could kill anyone of them whenever he wants since he's basically a god.

Agreed, it was a different attack method than weve normally seen - but just because it looks like it’s hacking away at something real and it looks like a lot of blood doesn’t mean it’s there (see Beverly’s scene when her dad can’t see the blood thrown all over the bathroom)
Speaking of that scene, I found it interesting that an adult could see the balloon. Outside of the original group of kids that became adults in the main story, has an adult ever been aware/been able to see that stuff?
I guess to play my own devil’s advocate - Pennywise only prefers to hunt children - but it certainly isn’t a requirement. He can and has attacked adults. Honestly, that’s why I don’t have an issue of him going after Marge even though, as far as we know, he hasn’t been targeting her. I believe in the books (and in the theater attack scene earlier in this show), Pennywise will attack if the opportunity presents itself. It doesn’t always require scaring the prey for a bit.

Ok, but my question is why is this the only time we’ve ever seen him do something like this?
You’re not convincing me that it wasn’t just a way for the writers to make lily look crazy again

I’m with you on this one. Lazy writing

I agree with this too. I hate that “people walk in on someone at the worst possible second so it looks like they’re doing something bad” trope.

The eyeball thing was so over the top and ridiculous that I didn't even find it that disturbing.
And she didn't die, just will be blind now, so I'm assuming she'll be able to vindicate Lilly.
It was actually pretty funny, and it looked so cheesy.

My problem with the eyeball scene is it doesn’t really fit with how pennywise fricks with kids. He takes on the form of their fears.
In her first scene, she mentioned hoping her glasses don't make her eyes look too big.

Got some nice Pennywise moments.
Poor Dick. Now we know how he got so broken.

The Uncle Sam ghost was cool. I just don’t think this version of Pennywise is that creepy. The haircut and big forehead are just dumb. The old Pennywise was awesome and legit creepy.

Dick seemed pretty cool when we saw him at the Overlook. Except he didn’t want to talk about Room 237.
That begs a question, if he’s going through this, why in the hell would he in his later years take a job at the Overlook?

I’m flying blind on this series. Does Dick see ghosts now? Is that what was locked in the box?

I had to watch a few videos on this, and this scene was taken from the Doctor Sleep movie where Dick teaches young Danny Torrance (kid from the Shining) how to lock the ghosts that want to seek his shine in a psychic lockbox.
It seems that Dick was doing the same thing with his lockbox which is probably why he can see the ghost of Russo wondering in the woods since his lockbox is now open.
This still leads to more questions like why Pennywise wanted it open.
I love this show but there is way too many nods to other King books and adaptations to keep up with. I have to go to social media to fill in the gaps with a lot of stuff.

This happened to me when I started reading The Dark Tower Series, which is probably the first King book I read.
I realized there were constant references to other books, which sent me down a King rabbit hole where I started reading almost only King for a few years, just to get the references in The Dark Tower
