Yeah. 80's kids spent half the day hunting each other. The other half arguing over who hit who with the imaginary bullets.

Too many "I shot you first" arguments resulted in upgrading to red ryders. I became clear who was hit first after that.

First time i watched it at movies i thought it was good, i rewatched it when it got to cable tv and realized how bad it really was.

remember being freaked out and always looking for parachuters outside my elementary school windows.

That scene always cracked me up. The paratroopers are landing all over. A teacher and some students look out of the classroom window because, well, PARATROOPERS in unfamiliar uniforms are landing in the schoolyard. A paratrooper then lights up the entire group because apparently they're not in town to win hearts and minds. Makes perfect sense!

Back in my day, my group of friends and I ran around the school playground with sticks (yes, safety patrol - STICKS), shooting at commies, gooks, and krauts, depending on what war we wanted to fight that day.

Cowboys and Injuns too. At least until Vietnam got hot, GI Joe's came out, and we switched to M-16's.

I love how you old guys seem to think the 80’s has a monopoly on children playing fake war games outside all day

No monopoly on it, as it existed well before the 1980's. We were just the last generation of children who could and would actually roam freely outdoors and before the rise of the digital generation and full-time extracurricular activities.

And get off my lawn.

I mean, it's got its fair amount of cheese, and the overt Patriotism is considered quaint and passe in this more cynical age, but it's hardly "bad".

Didn't they invade from Mexico?

No, that was the more plausible Invasion USA.

It's time to die, commies.

Red Dawn is still a far better movie, though

He was fantastic in Remo Williams. Although ~20 years older than either, he always gave off a Bill Mumy meets Mark Hamill vibe to me.

Just brutal man

It's mean't to be a total bleak movie. The end is near.

It's war and even the women were raped or constantly nearly raped...or so they imply.

My friends and I were smart. We used red ryder's when we played war, but we were safe. We wore safety glasses.

Yes they did ... you weren't paying attention.

Iron Eagle was on a month or so ago when I was home sick with the flu. I watched it once all the way through, then I watched the last 30 minutes again when it was on later
