SPOILERS:

Yeah, I saw it. You only see his eyes and know he's white. That's it.

We’ve known that for years though. That’s why I wasn’t mad.

I’ve always wanted a mini series or movie based on that Fall of Reach EU prequel book. Master Chief’s recruitment and the development of the SPARTAN program, for me, was a more interesting narrative than what took place in the games but I’ll still watch the show.

Never have understood the desire to convert the generally subpar storylines of video games into tv or movies but Halo has been one of the very few that seems to have potential to not be a total disaster.

Hopefully they do right by this.

The halo universe has tons of lore to go through. It's the reason Microsoft was so hardheaded on making a movie. They thought it could have close to star wars potential.

They guarded it so much that they couldn't come to an agreement with major movie studios.

And Microsoft has definitely missed the boat on the series ever being anything remotely close to Star Wars due to that hard headedness. The dip in Halo’s relevance following 343 taking over (and the series’ gameplay style becoming outdated) is why they are doing this instead of some AAA big budget movie with multiple sequels optioned for the future.

That said, in the grand scheme of things the scenario that has played out is fine. A modern high end tv series is the best vehicle for an at least decent Halo story. If Microsoft struck when the iron was hot we would’ve likely got a generic mid to late 00s Peter Jackson action movie with Master Chief slapped on it. 12-16 year old me would have loved that but it probably wouldn’t have much lasting appeal and have been an objectively shitty movie. They’ll get a fat budget for this series and definitely put a lot of action in it but they have to at least try to focus on the story since it isn’t just 2-3 hours long.

As far as I'm concerned the Xbox will always attribute its success to that character.

Blood Gulch might have more to do with it

and Jen Taylor as Cortana. I'd argue that her voice is even more iconic than MC's.

I would agree. Mostly because hers appears much more frequently.

ETA: How do they tackle a show though without ever taking Chief's helmet off? The game obviously did it because it really only needed to develop him a cut scene at a time which was sandwiched between action so he never had a need to take it off. an entire multi season show though, seems like a tough challenge.

They should be working closely with Eric Nylund
