Domestic doesn't look as strong right now. Presales according to some tracking are showing 85-90 mil opening weekend.

I don’t get these movies. I saw the first years later and have watched it exactly once.

It was fine.

I've never understood the love for these movies. They seem pretty basic action/fantasy to me.

This will be the first James Cameron movie I probably wont go see in the theater. Im not a fan of sitting in a theater for 3 hours much anyway and watching these films with an alternating frame rate just takes me out of the movie. Feels like Im watching a video game cut scene. I enjoyed watching part 2 much more at home.

Wouldn’t really worry too much about its opening weekend gross. Most movies have a 2.5-3.5 multiplier for total domestic gross. The absolute floor for this is 4x. Will probably be close to 5x, give or take .5.

It’ll probably be around 600ish million domestically and probably 1-1.2 billion internationally.

Yeah, I've always thought it was odd. I think certain audiences eat it up. Titanic did as well as it did because lonely women saw it 20 times each. Avatar seems to play well with foreign cultures.

But then, I saw it twice in the theater so maybe it just has subliminal mind control messages in it.

I still have a hard time comprehending that James Cameron is going to spend the last 20+ years of his career on Avatar.

Disney has once again turned another legendary franchise into a soul-less money making machine.

Amazon buying out MGM and Disney buying out 20th Century Fox are easily the two worst things that have ever happened in cinema. Original franchises are being whored out and milked for every penny whilst the quality of each subsequent film continues to decline further and further.

Going at 2pm tomorrow

Not really excited for it. But it’s a spectacle. Just hope it’s alright at least

The 2nd one dragged to me . And I never figured out what tech changed in the 13 years between the first 2 that made it to where 2 was able to be made .

I did not care for this at all feels so much like 2 . It didn’t drag quite as long with all the whale riding and swimming in 2.

Even the final act is almost beat for beat like 2.

After 10 hours with these characters.. I just don’t care at all about what happens anymore

James Cameron planned sequels back in 2006 when he was working on the first Avatar. He would be making these with or without Disney’s purchase of Fox.

There is nothing at all unique or memorable from the entire universe of Avatar. It’s a soulless slop fest

I've never seen a movie franchise that has made more money with less cultural impact than Avatar. I have never heard anyone talk about any of the movies. I don't think anyone could tell you a single character's name. After their first movies, even people who hadn't seen the films knew who Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Indiana Jones or Maverick were. It's just really strange.
