The third outing in Ryan Reynolds‘ irreverent superhero franchise smashed numerous other records both domestically and overseas, where it launched to $233.3 million for a global start of $438.3, the biggest debut since Avatar: The Way of the Water in December 2022.

I feel like it's going to underperform because of general lethargy. But, people have positive expectations for this franchise, so who knows?

not sure why they didn't release this in May or June
they will still get some competition from Twisters which won box office last week

$360m worldwide, $180m domestic. I think it will do better than expected in week 2 because some people will wait to avoid the crowds.

I'll take the under. Just a random number:
165 million domestic, 340 worldwide.

Yeah, I'll likely wait a bit to go see it.

Movie is supposed to be exhausting, trying to fit way to many things in one movie.
I'm seeing it Friday regardless.

I think the Kyle Gass cameo will hurt the box office in the red states.

We got tickets to the first showing today and it is sold out. I'll go with the 170mil domestic number which is nuts for a hard-R movie.

Previews for tonight are incredibly strong, could hit 40 million. If word of mouth is good, 200 mil is a near certainty.

We are doing the old people thing. We are going to a matinee on Wednesday and then going out to eat. I think the showing is around 2 so we can eat the early bird special with the greatest generation.
