From the previews and the "monster" shot at the end of last episode, it seems unlikely that Ralph Ladeaux is affiliated with that church at all... so he could fit the bill as the "wrong suspect".
that
and a small time drug dealer just doesn't fit the stereotype of a serial killing psychopath like they have set up

I think that fits his character's back story though.
but the character they've created is so far from being realistic and it's basically just a vessel to allow MM to chew scenes spouting rants that don't even always come together or make real sense. i know i've been in this corner since ep 1, but they've created a static character to chew scenes, instead of a dynamic character that is realistic but has profound thoughts
i really hope he doesn't play "God" the entire series. that was my fear after ep 1 and i was hoping it ended there. that's why i got into all those arguments after ep1

I am fine with the content in his rants. I actually agree with him for the most part, but I would still react the same way that WH reacts. He would be a horrible person to have to be around.

Those redditors obviously never been to Louisiana. I've seen those utility poles numerous times.

Episode 4 is going to be intense. It looks like from the previews Rust goes back to his old Narco days to bust Reggie LeDeux. Marty also mentioned a shoot out in his interview, so I'm guessing the apprehension of LeDeux is going to be a mess. CANNOT WAIT!!

Some people just don't like hearing shite like that, which is their problem not mine.
i don't mind hearing shite like that. i hear that shite every day inside my own head. but you know where i don't hear it? in public, especially around normal people who don't think lik that

The corruption goes way up, all the way to the governor and his preacher brother (we saw him in Ep 1).
Anyone think "Tuttle's college in Baton Rouge" will have any significance later on?
CoCo is still holding on to the Gov.'s cousin. That's another little line that could point in that direction.

Oh he would quickly become a drag to be around all day every day. I just don't agree with some that the character is unrealistic.

So here is my theory, Rust becomes pretty close to Reggy by doing the whole undercover narco thing... it becomes clear Reggy is a terrible person but maybe he didn't act solely in the killings? or it wasn't him at all?
Reggie is killed in this "shoot out" so they pin the murdgers on him btu Rust knows from being undercover with him that Reggy wasn't the main person in the killing.

Don't agree with that at all. Once again, you're WAY overthinking this.

how many people in your life in South Louisiana have ever gone on one of those rants in public where normal people can hear?

As for the lawnmower people are asking about, if I'm not mistaken, and I could be, I think they mentioned that "he was done fixing the mower."
He just so happened to mow his lawn when he got back. I thought it was funny how hypocritical Marty was being when he said "No one mows my lawn but me." I'm pretty positive that he was meaning that no one was fricking his wife but him.

I don't get the point you are trying to make... it has been made very clear Rust is not "normal".

he may not be realistic...on purpose...as in he may not be a real person. they way he philosphizes constantly comes off as if he is a split off of Woody's personality...his dark conscience or the doubts/cynicism that lie within him...I hope to God that is wrong and they don't go that way with the story, but I fear that is where this is headed
Posted on 1/27/14 at 9:41 am to Prominentwon
A more real person would keep the thoughts that MM has to himself. Of course, you can't really do that in a television show.
