Marty will think Rust is banging his wife, when he's really banging wifes friend. Marty will flip out and the wife will of course side with Rust.
I think Marty will blame Rust for there divorce... not bc they hookup but he thinks Rust ratted him out with the cheating.

Someone on imdb's forum made a good point. At this point, Marty is a pathological liar & Rust is suffering from insomnia. The flashbacks could start getting distorted.
I've seen that but not sure I buy it. The flashbacks seem more like the actual events that took place and not just a story being relayed from each person's POV. I don't think Marty would be telling the detectives about the time he banged his wife after going through his daugters dick journal.

Anyone else see a "Devil Catcher" in the foreground?
Good eye.
I'm trying to study his tattoos to see if the group of stars or any other symbols are there.
As for Reggie LeDeux's house or compound. I've seen some places that resemble that in my time in rural Louisiana.
edit: Someone on Reddit/r/truedetective spotted this. I cannot say I see that as a devil catcher, but rather some shitty engineering work from Entergy Louisiana

obviously Reggie isn't as concerned about contamination as Heisenberg

I think MM is great...but sometimes his speeches sound like a more eloquent rant from /r/atheism.
I think that fits his character's back story though.

Some, myself included, think that Rust may have been behind the wheel.
This is definitely the case.

I think Marty's insecurities lead to the divorce. I also believe Marty comes to think very highly of Rust.

MM's depressing and nihilistic rants last night were sure draining to watch, although very provocative.
I still believe all roads leads back to this "Holy War" theme. This "church" appears to be breeding it's cult-like followers to carry out these attacks on promiscuous women like Dory and the new "drowning" victim.
The corruption goes way up, all the way to the governor and his preacher brother (we saw him in Ep 1).

girls with the dolls
I think we are going to see the incident that they portrayed with the dolls happen or at least partially happen in episode 4...I also know there are two actresses listed that are playing Marty's oldest daughter in this series...one is a few years older than the other.

agreed. some here have taken issue with MMs musings, but I think his homilies are dead on for his character.

I agree completely.

the flashbacks show things they don't say to the police in present time. they have to be "real"

Well both detectives have talked about events away from the job. Rust seems to always go back to the death of his daughter and how he is better off alone off the grid. Marty on the other hand seems to make comments about "time away from the job" or "how you can't go home and be a husband/father immediately after the job". He may not come out right away and talk about screwing Maggie or his sidepiece. But, he's clearly telling them something to give them an idea.

Some people just don't like hearing shite like that, which is their problem not mine.

Possibly.
All that we really know is that a murder has happened in present day which was oddly similar to the one back in 1995 or whenever.
This leads us to believe that they arrested the wrong person and Rust basically confirmed that with his "ask the right questions" comment.
From the previews and the "monster" shot at the end of last episode, it seems unlikely that Ralph Ladeaux is affiliated with that church at all... so he could fit the bill as the "wrong suspect".
ETA I think it's possible Ralph was involved with the murders but the church could be the main force behind the killings and that is what is missed from the 1995 murder.
