I think a lot of people like it. Don’t know why some people feel the need to let everyone know how much they hate something.

Its message board. If we only had positive takes, this would be Rotten Tomatoes.

Its not the best but I've enjoyed it so far.

I "like" it in the sense that it's a story I want to see concluded and it gives me somethign to watch on Sunday nights. I wouldn't really call it all that good.
I would love to see a thorough demographic breakdown of people who think it's great and love it. I would bet anythign that the VAST majority of people that would say they love it fall into the category of at least one if not more of: female, young, and liberal. Which is fine, I'm not saying those people are morons or evil or anythign, just that I think that's probabbly more in line with who this specific story is meant for.

I'd say that the vast majority of people that like this show just don't have high standards for what makes a show quality. True Blood was a super popular show for instance.

Geez episode 3 was terrible.

I know text on a screen is hard to read intent, but I swear this isn't some "gotcha" where I'm pre-planning in advance to say you're wrong with whatever you post. I am genuinely interested and would like to see a different perspective and see what you really enjoyed about it.

The ability of Season 1 to vacillate between 2 time periods gave us this overwhelming suspenseful build up and foreshadowing. That is missing this season. However, I'm still intrigued by the little pieces of info that they are tantalizing us with here and there. If they stick the landing, I'd say this could end up the second best season. If they don't, it will be on par with Season 2.
I think the setting is amazing. And I've always been a little fascinated by the Dyatlov Pass Incident.

Generally agree with your thoughts.
I like it because it's different. I like the Alaska setting and the creepiness of that theme. And while the characters are pretty awful (both terribly written and just generally miserable as-written), it's somewhat well made otherwise.
But I thought Ep 3 was a meandering mess. I liked the dude at the nomad camp but I don't really have a clue where that's going.

Yeah the nomad camp was cool, but is it just me or is the acting getting worse and worse? It’s over acting and it’s throwing me off. Jodie is an amazing actress but I feel like she is over compensating for the lack of acting talent surrounding her.
And their “detective” work seems like something from a SNL or MadTV skit. A caricature of season 1 if you will.

Seemed like he knew quite a bit and was frightened by it, so not talking about it certainly helps the situation, doesn’t it?

The forced nativ accents are awful. I have no idea if that's what they talk like, but it takes me out of the story.
There are too many things going on, and knowing that we only have 6 episodes makes several plot points/scenes seem irrelevant or a waste of time.
For instance, we had that drawn out scene at the anti-mine rally. We already know the locals hate the mining company. Did we need a 4 minute scene at a protest?
The long, drawn out scene between butch cop and her FWB in the ice hut. Why do they spend so long making sure we know that she hates abusers? We already know.
This season of TD is really lacking an engaging actor/actress who makes you want to LISTEN to every word they're speaking. Even Vince Vaughan and his wife kept you engaged in their odd relationship stuff. Foster is great IMO, but terribly written here. Just seems MAD.

i actually feel a little bit of the opposite. Fosters (who i like as an actress) acting is the one that feels overacting to me. Navarro, who's character in itself isn't that great, is actually a decent actor. The kid has been pretty good. Jahn Hawkes makes a pretty good douche dad/bad cop. I wish there was more Christopher Eccleston because he is a great actor but IMDB is only showing one episode for him so we probably have seen the last of him.

Outside of the supernatural stuff, which I think will be brushed off/explained away, this is my least favorite part. Nobody feels like an actual good detective. Even Foster.

Doesn't bother me. I have no problem not comparing this to season one and never even remotely got my hopes up that this would be anywhere near as good as S1. I don't like the supernatural, but I am enjoying it. It's not great so far but it is better than the majority of the detective shows on TV, I can appreciate it for that.

There are plenty of incompetent, unqualified, lazy, small police departments that you or I could do a better job investigating than, but that is why other people are brought in, especially in case such as this one. Yet...

first episode
boring AF
slow AF
all the women are ugly. not a single one i'd want to see naked. The quality of women has gotten worse with each season.
weird fat lesbian girl makes a lezzie video
Then they start with the racial shite.
Tell me it gets better.

This is a 100% accurate representation of my opinion on the show.
Only thing keeping me interested TBH is the setting/environment. The town always being in the darkness is a cool aspect and makes a lot of the scenes interesting.

hollywood, specifically HBO, has been pushing average to below average women for a while now.
