this isn't true at all
i felt the wave of potential after episode 1. i just accepted the declining peak much earlier than everyone else
look at all the people who were being compulsive with finding deeper meaning/discovery in the plot..they've pulled almost a 180 and have accepted that isn't going to happen...without a peep reflecting this change
i'm being attacked for having the same (unrealistic?) expectations and not shifting my perception
think about it

So was it completely random that Marty ran into the ex-underage hooker first at the phone store and then again at the bar?
At first i thought no way it was random.
It seems pretty damn random to me...I don't think the cult was behind him needing a new phone and going to that particular T Mobile. One hell of a coincidence though
When Marty and Beth were drinking outside of the bar, and she gave him the talk about "you are a good man...any fault you have was put there by God, so you are forgiven," wasn't that almost verbatim Rust from one of his interrogations (maybe the burned B&E masturbator)? She really knew how to stroke his ego, etc.
Oh yeah, Prophet Rust

IMO it's not declining. I havent looked forward to a show like this in a while.
Sure, some episodes are better than others maybe, but the overall show (pacing, story, everything) is still very strong and just as strong as the initial episode IMO.
It just seems like it boils down to this part:

It's like you want so badly to be able to "I told you so" everybody that all you're doing is sitting back and trying to find flaws so you can prove yourself right.
Maybe I'm wrong on that, but that's how about 98% of your posts feel.

No one is a convert. Just because a few of us disliked the last episode doesn't make us converts.
I haven't disagreed with much of what you've said.
You just haven't gone full on fanboy like some of the rest of us.
Too wrapped up in that awful show Girls, I presume.

they are a bunch of LOST fanboys....if you have watched any interview with Nic Pizzaloto you understand what this show is. People have misunderstood what this show is from the beginning. I think that fact that its set inside of the detective noir genre is partyly responsible for that

Isn't sexuality a big part of female empowerment?
It is as far as Marty is concerned. It goes back to his talk with the trailer park madam about "you don't own it anymore."

You better watch your cornhole slow.

I loved the episode. It was cool to see Rust doing his thing outside the lines. Freaked me out when the crazy Lorde chick screamed at him in the mental hospital. As soon as she made eye contact with him and he made the facial gesture she flipped out, almost like she knew him.
question: Did Marty just randomly go in the phone store to get that flip phone, and was recognized by the ex hooker? Said hooker then follows him to the nearest bar?

I think that has a lot to do with it, especially on this board. The Lost discussion threads were SO fricking indepth and every single little detail of every episode was scrutinized to no end. And let's face it, that was Abrams and crew's intent a lot of times. And also don't get me wrong, I loved every minute of it. But I think that has led people to basically overanalyze every single show like that.
So far, I haven't read a whole lot of additional information about TD, and I think I'm enjoying the show more because of it. I may read a good bit right before the finale (or after it's over), but I really feel like people are trying way too hard to connect dots that aren't even remotely in need of being connected...and it's ruining their enjoyment because of that (because certain things aren't panning out like their intricate theories do).

You have 1. ...and she's just pissed because she has devoted so much time to the show that there was a slow episode.
She'll get over it and will be watching next week.
