After the next episode that theory will go one way or the other. Haunted Houses will put this issue to rest.

Marty is described by the creator of the show as essentially a completely id-ridden, impulsive, pleasure-seeking, desire-satisfier. Marty is exactly as he describes himself in the first expisode. He's not a serial killer or cult leader - he's not a deep-thinker whatsoever and has zero leadership skills - he's just a guy's guy: a former baseball player, cowboy and skirt chaser. He screws up and then begs like a little boy (which he is) for forgiveness and makes up little-boy excuses for his actions. Anyone who thinks he's more than that is over-analyzing, which is what the show's creator has said.

let me just say that it's really impressive that i am no longer the villain of this thread

Ya exactly. That description of himself is him exactly. He's the kind of guy who would make a joke like that. No more, no less. There's a zillion Marty's out there. Marty's there to be the everyman foil to the way-out Rusty. I think he'll go off the deep-end when his daughter gets killed by the cult, but c'mon Marty is not capable of dreaming up cult symbols, rituals, or any manner of esoteric belief system. The guy likes beer and 'Murca.

Don't feel bad. With a little extra effort you can regain your title.

No, but you have the highest post count in this thread 2 to 1 by the closest challenger!

What's impressive is the size of this thread for how young it is, and being an HBO show.

If anybody was thinking about listening to the "Truth Squad" TD recap podcast, dont do it. Its two annoying chicks. I deleted after listening for about 30 seconds.

decatur has been troll-fricking TD threads since EP 2 I believe. I keep trying to ignore him, but he is a top-notch troll.

I don't think I'm a completely retarded person, but can someone please explain the whole m-theory to me, in laymans terms.

81 pages is way too many pages to read through, but part of me thinks Marty might be connected somehow. He didn't let Rust surveil the property alone while he left to get backup, and he just smoked Reggie while they had him handcuffed. Initially, I thought he did all of this out of passion but now I'm thinking he did this because he didn't want to chance Rust talking to Ledoux either on the scene (had he left him alone) or during interrogation (following the arrest). Then again, I could just be over analyzing...
Also, was it mentioned that Rust seemingly recreated (beer cans) the scene that Marty's daughter made with the barbies? Five adults around a victim? Just as I said before, I could be over analyzing.

Absolutely don't see anything that would lead to Marty.
Someone in his circle, absolutely.
I don't think either of the two have anything to do with it other than having an unhealthy obsession with The Yellow King and continuing their investigations even after their LEO careers were long gone.

Actually, I first started posting my theories in the theory thread that was started...one week ago. You might be stuck in that fourth-dimensional perspective where time is flat. The next three weeks for you = eternity.

It's really easy to ignore people on this site. Real easy.

I quit reading a while back. At what page did this thread jump the shark?
