yone call the number on the billboard of the missing child?
I tried when they first showed it but it said it couldn't be dialed from a cell phone.
You have to use the pay phone at the old gas station in the spill way

This thread has been fun reading.
I honestly hope everybody is wrong and we all get a great ending that NOBODY saw coming.

I actually thought it was that sign heading into Beaumont that's been up since 95

What would have been an unsafe ending? Sopranos style?
****SPOILERS****
yeah not saying anything is one way to do it...or pulling a whacky/unexpected ending...or one that frustrating
walt got to wrap up basically everything, especially re: redemption. he saves jesse and mends that to a bit. his final plan was exceptionally complex and one finally goes off without a hitch. nothing crazy happens and it's pretty textbook. then he dies after all of this good shite happening.
and what was the response? theories like he dies in the car and the rest is a dream. why? walt trying to gain redemption and failing is more interesting, but less fulfilling.
i have no problem with BB. i'd imagine the people who DO are engaging in exactly what les is commenting on
**** END SPOILERS*****

Some insight into potential storylines and setting for Season 2 (assuming it's greenlit):
LINK
Sounds like really nothing is decided other than writer Nic Pizzolatto being back, which is good news.

Via Deadline, the pay-cable giant has signed an overall two-year deal with creator and novelist Nic Pizzolatto, who has already begun working on a potential second season of ‘True Detective,’ prepping a draft to present to HBO execs.
quote:
Pizzolatto put forth several ideas during the recent TCA press tour:
There could be a season that’s much more of a widespread conspiracy thriller, a season that’s a small-town murder mystery, a season where nobody is murdered and it’s a master criminal versus a rogue detective or something. Even the title, True Detective, is meant to be, of course, purposefully somewhat generic – the word “true” can also mean honorable and authentic and things like that. So as long as there is some crime in there, I think the series format can approach it.

I love that TD will be an anthology series. We get to enjoy great writing/acting/stories and get some closure from a series (for once).

Not sure if this has been discussed, but how did Charlie Lange know about the antlers?

and reggie ledoux's paradise of pain?
I don't know the extent of Ledoux's knowledge or involvement in anything. Looked like he didn't know anything about the antler crown. I really don't how much Marty knew about Ledoux before all this, whether he always planned to pin it on him or that it happened more by circumstance. But it would be mighty convenient for Marty just to off Ledoux and pin it on him rather than have Ledoux deny everything.
But I do think we know that Detectives Gilbough and Papania think that the case might have been steered toward Ledoux, but they blame it on Rust...at least that is what they are telling Marty.
What info do you think they are trying to elicit from Marty?
Another question should be asked - if the detectives are going to question at least two people, at least one of whom they think might be a suspect, who are they going to want to question last? I think they last question the person they think has the highest likelihood of being their suspect, so they have the benefit of getting as much info from everyone else first.

what will it take to put the marty is the killer theory to rest?
he tailed the fricking dude and led rust right to reggie ledoux's camp and also got the intel from ledoux's ka as to how the biker gang was connected and passed this on to rust. did he magically know that rust was this crazy badass who would go through the ghetto robbery to make the pieces fall into place.
i really feel like Lost ruined TV for alot of people as they are now compelled to over analyze the shite out of a story to find symbols and a deeper meaning.

Marty had him over for dinner (red shirt night...not blue) and told him then to prep him.

R/politics is garbage because of this. Anything not spit out from think progress will get downvoted to hell.

Then he blasted ledoux in the face so no one can ask questions.
That does nothing to dismiss Marty if anything it makes him more guilty. I don't agree with that theory but that was stupid reasoning

but how, at the least, did he get all of those devil catchers on that property? was the initial use of devil catchers a ploy he concocted knowing that he could eventually pin this all on ledoux, somehow (if he ever found him). but that begs the question of how marty would even know ledoux would have those things on his property, considering he didn't know who the hell ledoux was (or how to find him).

i think they know marty and rust lied about how they found ledoux ad a minimum, which means the entire story is suspect

ignoring all the risk he was taking with this, how did he know which biker gang rust had a connection with in order for it to lead back to an avenue for rust to get close to ledoux? this is all ignoring how he knew ledoux, or what ledoux did, or who he sold to.
