Yea I just think he is working alone.
If he was working for the Feds i don't think it would be a huge secret to the state police. He certainly wouldn't be showing up to crime scenes if he was supposed to be trying to trick someone that he was undercover

and i know that reality is detested with regards to this show, but the FBI wouldn't send a guy to work UC and have him be an oddball weirdo with a redacted file from his "history" in TX

the man on the lawnmower has scars on his face if you study the pictures. hard to make out very well with his beard but he has scars across both cheeks.
Could also be someone who has scars on his body and we haven't seen them yet

this is a statement that i agree with in general with regards to American TV shows. they almost always go on way too long
i like the 1-season format. almost any show can wrap up in 2-3 seasons, imho

I listen every week to their podcast, but I really don't understand what Greenwald hated about this show. As in he couldn't articulate past "I don't like cop shows, so I knew going in I hate this one."
He sounded like a kid having to do a book report.

The Brits cut 'em off after a season or two.
Perfect synopsys as a fan of both LOST and X-Files. X-
Files took forever to pay off and after a decade I just didn't care anymore.
LOST promised scientific or psuedo-scientific explanations for eveything but had no plan to tie it all back together and punted with a metaphysical "magic" ending instead.

Greenwald's main flaw is he writes about plays and makes up his mind about them after Act I. He does the same thing with Boardwalk Empire every year.

Yep. The FBI and CIA routinely contract total burnouts and weird criminal freaks. If you read the history it's pretty clear that a lot of the "people" who get their hands dirty on behalf of three-letter govt orgs are mentally defective in some way. Look at Lee Harvey Oswald.

It seems to me that he was turned off in the beginning by Rust's so-called "nihilistic rambles." I think a lot of people feel like Rust sounds like a whiny teenager. I can understand why, but of course I disagree.
