No, they aren't trying to mock Christianity. The cult is anti-Christian by accident; because religion's of this sort are structurally similar, like I said.

Salvation is knowing the truth. They are trying to get people to be their sacrifice willingly. This is giving them salvation--salvation from the "mistake" that is human life. In becoming attuned to this truth, they become most like the god. After all, the god knows the truth about things.

Yeah, but Maggie could be coming to talk about the daughter. Or, he could be getting rid of his new Doctor lady GF to protect her.

I think the general consensus is that someone high up is setting up Rust...probably because he is getting too close to the truth. He went off the grid because he likely realized people within the Dept were at some level involved.

...and him wanting to see the Lake Charles so much. His reaction when he saw it "that's all you got?"

Maybe dumb question that has already been discussed.

I'm aware that each season will have a new case but will it all take place in the same area? Different parts of the country?

I find myself missing the Rust and Marty are the same person theories though.

but that's why i keep going back to suicide

if human life is a mistake, and they understand this truth, and willing sacrifice leads to salvation, then suicide is the logical conclusion (and not exactly rare in terms of cults)

Possibly. But that angle seems too obviously. I thought this originally, but I think it's someone that we haven't seen/heard about yet.

I think all of that is subject to change from season to season. The nice thing with all of the praise that MM is getting is that they will have every good actor wanting these roles.

It is very interesting they chose LSD as the drug of choice for several reasons.

Not really. Acid was big in the late 90s. Moreso than Meth.

Besides all that, no one gives a shite about which drugs were being used, and it seems you are reaching to say there is some allegory for LSD in this.

I'm hopeful for that as well. Imagine this boards reaction if they got JGL

I don't know about "allegory," but I think there's definitely something to be said for the combination of LSD and meth. Counterproductive is the wrong word, but it's weird.

Perhaps. The thing with LSD is that such a miniscule drop of it (literally a tiny drop of liquid) can trip you out for half a day. Very easy to dose kids at that school.

I think we're too late in the season to be introducing new characters.
