I literally thought the entire show was them leading up to personally arresting/killing the governor

For me the green paint part was not as hard to believe as the old tax return with the name of the company that did the work.
Yea I'm no accountant but can you even write off the cost of painting your home? I kinda think not.

fwiw I was slightly disappointed with the whole green paint clue

Me too. I thought for sure that green stuff on the sides of the head in the drawing would be some kind of ear phones/sound muffler that the guy wore while cutting grass.

For a rent house, you can.

If it's a rental house and you are writing off painting costs, you had better have a receipt to show.

I'm sure Errol wrote a very nice letter to the IRS vouching for the guy's legitimacy.

Just finished the series today and loved the way it ended. Cannot understand why so many people complained about it.

I believe sfp prepared a legal brief outlining his positions.

Was no one else bothered by how ridiculous the fishing scene was?
A sportfisher in the middle of the damn marsh half arse casting out lines like they were waiting for brim under a cork. Who would do this- no one. It's like the biker gang in cop outfits for the stash house raid. Overall writing was incredible but now and then would absolutely drop the ball on being realistic. If they were so detail oriented about re creating crime scenes, clothing styles appropriate for mid 90s etc they should have not overlooked some of these details- it was distracting for me.

The costumes didn't hold up very long. All they needed was to have the slight appearance of law enforcement for that job. It "worked"

Have to disagree
If I took one look at that crew it would take me < 1 second to decide I was not looking at cops

That was kind of the point, though. The bikers were idiots and were in no way equipped to successfully carry out the raid.

Exactly. Rust even said "You boys haven't thought this out"

it was ONLY 8 episodes and I knew there would be no time to tie every detail together. How did people not understand that?
i spent a day making this same argument, and for a solid day people argued with me that they would be explained/tied up

People claiming that those were the driving interest in the show after episodes 1 and 2 are simply incorrect.
again. you can go read the threads themselves on here. they were dominated by the mystery/story
quote:
What I do have a problem with is how weak the dialogue and characters became after Episode 5. That was supposed to be the driving interest of the show, but Rust, Marty, and everything grew a little stale
this is true, though
that's when i accepted the ending would be mediocre

yeah, it was kind of random. But, they were trying to show that Marty had grown as a detective. He was no longer just living off of Rust's work and writing the reports. He was actually able to do good detective work.
for the record, that wasn't really "good detective work." that was more like throwing a dart a dart board, blindfolded
