But what if these new detectives come across similar killings with the Yellow King/Cthullu Mythos trappings?
then it becomes more ridiculous than the character or rust, honestly
Maybe, but NP seems a big fan of Chambers and Lovecraft. There's a risk of it becoming The Following II but worldwide cult sleeper cells were right up Lovecraft's alley.

i bet i can find you posting aobut the plot/mystery in prior threads. why was it important to you then? why isn't it now?
You can find plenty of mine. That's where I was at the point in the show. The show evolved.

the only thing they really left unsolved was the identity of all 5 masked men.
who they were
why they did it
what their beliefs are
why did they kill 2 publicly?
etc
I'm actually with you 100%. the cult was fascinating, and wish that the show was more elaborate in concluding that part of the story. from my understanding, the dora lange and lake charles killings were erroll and reggie ledoux(dora lange only) acting outside the cult. I'm just a little surprised that people are still asking about who is the yellow king, when there was a giant stick figure in carcosa with yellow shrouds. overall, i was disappointed with the finale.

The show evolved.
how, exactly?
any specific examples of a difference over time to show the evolution?
or did YOU evolve, b/c you wanted the show to be awesome, so you engaged in self delusion to maintain that desire?

rust proves the show is about style and not substance.
So what? I think most people would say the LOVE this shows style. It felt awesome to watch. It was one of the first shows that maintained the feeling of the title sequence throughout the entire show. It was haunting. Some shows innovate through substance, others style.
The amount of bitching you are doing is breathtaking. You didnt like the show, cool. It was the most fun I've ever had watching a show. Let it be. You have also made your point. Everyone in this thread knows how you feel about this show. To continue to repeatedly challenge anyone else's opinion is annoying and obnoxious. But i guess you dont get the highest number of posts on TD ever without repeating yourself to the enth degree.

The texture was mystery in part. It was the telling of a story. Details and a journey terminating at the completion of the two detectives place in the puzzle.

I thought there would be a shot of a couple of folks in handcuff/suicide, but other than that they gave me as much conclusion as I was expecting.

people said this, weeks and weeks ago, too
and i was right. they were wrong. a few people have admitted it. i'm just sitting back and collecting more for my flock as the king in yellow (see: avatar)

Geez dude; we get it. You've had a line from the beginning and weren't going to let any awesome show stop you from being right.

Is the Yellow King the blonde guy that was with the meth cook?Did they say who the Yellow King was?
Yellow King is another name for Satan.
Carcosa is the location where sacrifices/rituals took place.

to be fair, you postulated about a philosophical underpinning of the show as your backbone of enjoyment
that didn't come to pass, either. as best we can tell, the cult was nothing more than inbred pedos
*ETA: and a meth cook and his trusty aide

Yes. It's conveniently broken down into eight episodes.

I think yellow king was what the cult called Waffle House.

The philosophy was all there before...
And to be clear, my main interest was the development of character against the background of the philosophy (I don't read fiction or watch movies for philosophy; I read philosophy for that).
