End of tthe day, that was a story of friendship, I think. The ups and downs, the betrayals, the loayalty, the problems and reconciliations.
I agree. Ultimately, this was about two men becoming brothers.

I mean as shitty as both of their lives had turned out, Rust having lost a kid, multiple relationships and Marty essentially his family, it's nice to see some redemption for both of those guys.

So who was the dead body in the shack?

The light's winning comment seems to suggest that Rust is finally allowing himself to see the good in things.
His NDE played a part in that.
Before it, he was always seeing the negative, unable to allow himself to feel good (perhaps out of guilt?)

Awesome show. I enjoyed it start to finish. The ending was great.

Is there supposed to be another season?

Do any of you think they left it open for harrelson and mc to return next season to investigate the involvement of the others in the video? I don't know if next season will be a sequel but I believe they left the option open.

Great show! So much left open though. I'm surprised how much love is being given to the ending. I loved it, and I think a pan out when they are both wounded has been done a thousand times before. So I really liked the hospital portion, but it may hurt for awards because of the religious undertones. Oh well. Great show, I'm left wanting more

Errol called him daddy, so I'm guessing it was his dad.

I'd have been pissed if we got a "did they die?" cliffhanger. Especially knowing both won't be back for next season and there'll be a new deal.
I'll take the warm and fuzzies.
This
Been there done that numerous times. Nice to have a happy ending to such a dark themed show. Every once in a while it's nice to see everyone live and get some closure.

Nah. they've been pretty adamant that this is a one season cast and story.

Yea I agree feeling they give you at the end: Imperfect individuals with all their faults can still be the "light" of this world.

Amen. Wish some of the dialog ie was a bit clearer...that tippy cap errol Was Saying Down In carcosa...damn...reggie and dewall were mere acolytes

I thought the ending was great. It was necessary to end it the way they did because of the central narrative of the show and the relationship between Marty and Rust.
I feel like the dialogue when MM reflects on his OOB experience during his unconsciousness and how he felt warmth and love was very important. The entire season we only know, what boils down to, a cynical, pessimistic Cohle and in the final scene of the season he actually shows hope and optimism, especially with his atatement that "in the beginning there was only darkness, so light is winning."
