Huh? Who is that?
The body was pretty fresh looking. And didn't look old enough to be his dad. Plus there were public records of his dad being dead.

Great ending to a brilliant season.

I got the impression that Marty's persuasive manner got get to tell where the real phone was.

Let me nerd out for a bit.
Was the hospital scene (s) a real life version of purgatory for both Rust and Marty? Seems like both men came to some sort of higher understanding of life and achieved some sort of peace.

Religious undertones? I don't think there was enough of it.
I could see someone complaining if Rust suddenly found Jesus in his coma, but they kept it very secular. Light vs. Dark and nothing more.
I want to note here that I was very satisfied with this ending, the episode and the series as a whole. Borderline GOAT.

I liked the way it ended. They lived in a dark, personal place and were taken to an even darker place with this case. They both came out for the better.
What a fantastic series.

For the 100,000th time it's a different cast with a different story.
I believe everyone is aware of that but things change. If awards come out the arse for the show and the two lead characters are interested I could easily see a sequel.

What are the chances they bring these two back in another season in the future?

Yeah it's OK to suspend cynicism for a while and accept that through the worst possible situations, there can be some good. I think that was kind of the point.
I also don't think it was necessarily all happiness. For all we know, Rust could have gone home and kill himself to try to get back to his daughter.

Seriously that is one of the greatest seasons of tv ever. I'll definitely go back and watch it again, and again.

Not gonna happen. This story spanned 20 years. They are no longer law enforcement. Time for those two cowboys to hang their spurs up.

I thought it looked kind of mummified.

I'd have just posted up outside until the cops got there.
