This is so stupid. These are old tropes that have been established in years past of the talented but brash pilot who ends up being destructive because he doesn't think things through. The only difference is that the commander and main protagonist is now a woman, and that offends the hell out of you. Anything more than the woman in a secondary support role must be feminism gone mad. What does that say about you?

It's a one sided argument. The female characters do plenty of risky shite throughout the movie. But the men are the only ones judged as destructive psychos in a lot of these articles.

I’m watching Empire right now and Leia is almost a different character. She’s strong willed, Han is strong willed, and to watch her soften towards him is just fantastic. Just look at the way the evacuation was played out from Hoth vs the one in TLJ. Everyone knew their role. Everyone knew the plan. It was executed. What was the reason behind the deception in TLJ other than to show Men are Bad?
Star Wars has always had a strong female character in Leia. She walked on the bridge of the Death Star and told the two most powerful men in the galaxy to Kiss Her arse. She was on the front line in Empire, at the heart of the battle in ROTJ. The EU novels were filled with strong female leads like Jaina Solo and Mara Jade. Ashoka Tano is a wonderful character in Clone Wars and Rebels, so much so that i really want to see a live action movie with her in it. Rey is fantastic and sometimes I wonder if Daisy Ridley is acting in another movie.
I am a dad of a little girl. I want my daughter to grow up to be independent, and self sufficient. I want her to be a strong woman that has goals and sets out to accomplish them. I don’t want her subverted by popular culture that portrays men to be idiots and the punchline of the joke. The universe Disney is creating here is fricking atrocious.

That's such a dishonest way of looking at the problem people have.
We're talking about The Last Jedi and this is about a director purposefully adding meaningless scenes and creating meaningless characters to prove a point. Rose's character served absolutely no purpose other than to add a minority female to the movie. Her scenes amounted to nothing in terms of plot advancement.
Laura Dern's character the same thing. Her scenes should have been given to admiral ackbar.
They took the franchise away from the fans and they're now using it to spread an obvious agenda. I could tolerate the prequels existing because at least the story that got us from point A to point B wasn't bad. In TLJ, not only were there some things that were total abominations on screen, but the story itself was sacrificed because it wasn't a priority. The director didn't know what the star wars universe was about, nor did he care. The movie was his platform to instill some weak social messages.
Most people aren't sexist or racist. I love daisy Ridley as the lead. I loved when I heard they were adding John boyega. But it's Because they're qualified and good fits. That's different than giving someone a job solely because they fit a certain profile.

But, when you give third wave feminists the reigns to anything, this is what you're going to get - the militant dyke fiction that men are dumb and women should rule - or more to the extreme, men should be phased out of humanity.
Which is ironic and crushingly hypocritical given the den of sex offenders that is "Disney."

But by in large, The Last Jedi’s examination of gender politics does fit into this trilogy’s message that the true heirs to the power in this universe are not white men like Hux and Kylo but women and people of color.
Alright, I'm on the trump train now

Let's not ignore the fact that Laura Dern's super wise and thought-out scheme got about 80% of the Resistance killed.

Wtf are you talking about? No one feels fricking threatened. What are we being threatened with exactly?
The outrage has everything to do with the fact that the director took time out of his schedule during the making of this movie to further SJW idealism and not improve and/or focus on quality and consistent story telling within the Star Wars universe.
Instead of focusing on central characters already established we had the Laura Dern character being thrusted into our face (who was short-lived and not in the least bit interesting), AND we got the Rose character thrusted into our face (equally uninteresting).
Both of those characters were obviously a part of the feminism theme in the movie.
This paved the way for less focus on the already established characters (some women btw), such as Leia, Rey, Kylo Ren, Luke Skywalker.
So now since half of those people are dead or eventually wont be around, and you've done very little to build up the other half that is still around, what does anyone have to care about now?
EITHER WAY:
This is a movie/tv board, any criticisms and/or praises are about a movie at the end of the day. I thought that was a given? No one is going through an existential crisis because of this movie and I think its bizarre you jump so far into what people are saying to assume that they somehow feel "threatened".
Of course not, its a movie, but since this is the movie/tv board, why don't you assume that to begin with and let people talk without making ridiculous conclusions?

You're asking the wrong person. I don't feel threatened. Ask lacour.

If the roles were reversed in the scenario, would you still be a whiny little bitch about it?
This really is an indictment of your insecurity as a man more than it is some "anti man" conspiracy.

I just saw it this morning. The SJW/Feminist themes are strong all the way through this movie. If you can't see the war going on against straight white males by Hollywood & the Media then I don't what to say to you. Wake up people.

Hollywood already has.
Yes because John Wick didn't get made, Deadpool didn't get made, Wolverine was never in a movie, they didn't do a remake of The Magnificent Seven.
I really could make this list go on and on......
