It looks fine for me. I don't see any problem. Thought the lighting with the Gollum sequence was pretty great.

The lightening was great for that. How funny would it be if the hobbit won a Oscar for lighting.

Sorry. I will never understand this one or any of the movies leading up to it.

Having a handle on the Tolkien lore can also clue fans in on potential scenes to come in the second and third Hobbit movies. (Warning: for those who prefer to avoid possible spoilers, skip this section!) For example: Will viewers be treated to a flashback of Gandalf wandering into the dungeon of Dol Guldur to recover the map and key for the Lonely Mountain from Thorin’s crazed, imprisoned father, Thráin? Will Galadriel’s forces take on the Necromancer as detailed in the appendices and hinted at in The Hobbit when she reassures Gandalf, “If you need me, call and I will come?” And will Bilbo meet an intriguing 10-year-old named Aragorn in Rivendell on his journey back to Hobbiton?

I know that the Gandalf recovering the key and map and seeing the necromancer torture Thorin dad will be in the next one. The aragon would be a great treat for the fans.

See the fellowship never establishes the 20 year gap b/w bilbo's birthday and vandals discovering that frodo's is the one ring. So when Aragon says he's 87 it's fine but when you throw in a 10 year Aragon it creates inconsistency

I seriously think he deserves "Best Supporting Actor" nomination for that. He blew it out of the water.

He should have had one for TT or rise of the planet of the apes. No one is on his level

Voice acting alone is great

The motion capture stuff is great

He does both

I thought it was excellent. Just wish The Hobbit and the Trilogy could have been filmed and released in the same sequence as the books.

Honestly, this scene may be my favorite of all the films: Bilbo sparing Gollum. Just done so perfectly. Seeing how despicable he is, you kind of have a hard time fathoming why Bilbo didn't slit his throat, but then you see his face and with Bilbo take pity toward Gollum, but quickly reminds you why he's such a despicable conniving creature.

While he's not really a villain in The Hobbit, definitely think he's one of the all time great underrated villains in The Lord of the Rings. Really, I was pretty confident that Frodo and Sam were going to make it at the end of Fellowship. Sauron just seemed too distant of a threat for our heroes to be taken down by, as well as far too arrogant. But when Gollum entered the picture, when reading The Two Towers, I thought that Frodo would not survive the journey, and Gollum would succeed in killing Frodo, and Sam would finish the journey alone. Gollum may have been small and weak, but he was the greatest threat to our heroes and ironically our villains as well.

I absolutely loved the film.

It was at least as good as Fellowship. It is tonally different, and that irks critics.

But I think the movie was more true , page to screen, than LoTR

Well said. That scene will be hard to top including all the scenes in LOTR. It was perfectly shot and you felt pity toward Gollum. Cam was the bigger cheater IMO Gollum would have killed Bilbo given the chance. Cam just flat out took money

I really don't give a shite about the critics but it got ridicilous the hatred they had in their hearts. They couldn't stand that it wasn't LOTR or something. Can't wait to see what these hands think about The Desolation of Smaug.

that is the dumbest criticism ever. they hate this movie because it's not another one?

if it was the same as lotr they would complain it's just a repeat or rip off
