I could get behind that. I'd like to get into some of the older classics. I got hooked watching TCM over Halloween.

It could be random even. Start with the list of 200, and do a Stickied "Movie of the Month" thread (one thread per month wouldn't be too much to ask). Find time to watch and discuss. Might elevate some of the discussion and be a good distance from the television threads (this board seems to slant TV more over the past few months).

Someone else would have to run it, but the content is there.

Glad to see Assassination of Jesse James make the list. Another polarizing film, but its acolytes, of which I am one, absolutely adore it.

Maybe there should be a monthly viewing thread for newcomers or those just interested, use this list to facilitate what movies to watch (either go up or down the list). Watch one movie a month and discuss. Or discuss one movie from the list a month from here on out

Not a bad idea there's always movies on these lists that I haven't seen. I always enjoy the discussions that follow these lists even more than the lists themselves.

Yup.

That's an interesting set of films, lots of films on that count that specifically deal with privacy (and public perception)... Jesse James for one, Lives of Others, Social Network. Interesting.

Starship Troopers made the list, which makes me very disappointed. I re-watched it this weekend and it was even worse than I remembered. Though I did read the book a few months ago, and that was pretty amazing.

I'd recommend against a constant sticky though...some people (me included) don't like when there are always stickied threads clogging up the top of boards. But a thread like that would surely stay bumped on the first page or two though in its own right.

That's an addition to this list that perplexes me as well.

It didn't even make the Top 100 before, so it's a gain.

movie is better than 162 but I guess its not a film a large number of people have seen. But it is truly a master piece of a film. Was 13 on my list. Hopefully 1-140 is a good list.

do you have access to the old top 100? I would love to compare when this finishes.

Fourth set:

The biggest news here: Baloo's hope for a Wes Adnerson-less list is crushed. not once, but twice. Dumb and Dumber, a top 50 movie last time, also, fell like a rock. This isn't because of the appreciation dwindling. I think it's because of the larger ballot (and I've always preferred ballots to straight numerical ratings). We have more room for every film, but not too much room. Dumb and Dumber at 130 is about right, maybe even a little high.

First Leon, now Enter the Dragon. That's a top 75 film from last time. It's the quintessential Kung Fu film, and it's superb. I think, much like Dumb and Dumber being passed, bright and shiny modern action films made in the past 15 years, pushed older films like Leon and Dragon down a bit. People still ranked them, just not as high as before. More to come in the comparison thread.

Let me know if you need those lists...they are all on classics. Just skimming that board, I see:

- 100 movies WADS
- 50 Sci/Fi WADS
- 50 comedies WADS
- 50 90s movies WADS
- 100 00s movies WADS
- 100 80s movies WADS
- Directors (100 total) WADS

Time not being kind to LA Confidential.

I'm just hoping to keep Wes out of the top 100. I'll call this a win. Though, the worst movie in this group of 20 is Scarface.

Yeah, come at me, bro.
