Time not being kind to LA Confidential.
I saw part of it the other day, and I just wasn't as impressed with it now, as I was before.
I FEEL like it's a great film, but I don't see it anymore, if that makes sense.

hough, the worst movie in this group of 20 is Scarface.
Yeah, come at me, bro.
You are not alone. Scarface 1935, ok. Not Pacino's version.

I don't know. When I first saw it I didn't like it. But After a couple of more viewings I'm appreciating it a little more. It goes off the deep end at times, but the hotel room sequence is a classic scene.

So close to the Top 100. Miyazaki and the Coen Brothers both get a couple of ranks this round along with two of the most popular historical fiction films in Gladiator and Mohicans. Disney drops a couple more films this round as well.
I think the surprise here is probably A Few Good Men, an odd film not often really discussed here but topped some Bergmans and Peckinpah films. And even Ford. Strange.
Also, The Thing at 102, this board should be ashamed of itself. Maybe the worst ranking yet (and I even had a write up somewhat prepared for that one). We do talk a lot about this movei, but it never does THAT well on lists.

two coen brother movies back to back interesting.
note: Barton Fink is one of my favorite coen movies. I think I ranked NCFOM higher because it won an award. Both amazing movies.
o brother was 28 and fink 12 on my list.
note: wasn't it 40 not 30?

Let me know if you need those lists...they are all on classics. Just skimming that board, I see:
- 100 movies WADS
- 50 Sci/Fi WADS
- 50 comedies WADS
- 50 90s movies WADS
- 100 00s movies WADS
- 100 80s movies WADS
- Directors (100 total) WADS
Is there anyway we could just get the lists stickied? Maybe let Freux post 11 blank times in order for us to simply have the lists. Always like going through them and watching movies I haven't seen on them, but then they're gone. We don't need the full write-ups, just the lists.

Really liking the list so far and the ones that I feel were snubbed for the most part like Leon and The Thing, I didn't really help on. I listed my favorite movies, not greatest (which would have been entirely different) and I can't say that either of those would be in my Top 40. Leon came close to mine and it hurt me cutting it, but I don't think the Thing came in my Top 100. Sorry.

Stickied? Nah.
I'm trying to get Chicken to make the Topics of Interest more board-specific, to where one of them could be a link to all of the WADS threads..

Ok next idea:
I have all of this raw data for lists, directors, etc. I think there could be some really interesting analysis that I lack the skills to do. I'd share it all with someone who has the power of the voodoo to dig into it.
Think about Cross-referencing lists, compiling a great big lists by using all data from all votes. Seeing if there is a trend in voting for films, etc.
Just a thought for the statistically inclined.

I like the Thing, it's just I've watched a few thousand films. In college, I averaged at least 6 new movies per week. It's just a lot of movies to choose from.

The fact Das Boot is 120 and The Thing is 102 makes me unreasonably angry.
No, wait.... that is perfectly reasonable anger.

Just noticed that since the Lion King has already appeared, that is probably going to be the only Disney film on the list. I assume there will be another Pixar entry, but I guess we're done on that. Really surprised Disney is probably only getting one entry.

Old Disney animated films have suffered greatly since the 80's-90's boom. And that isn't a good reason, but the pics from that generation were so strong that they completely overshadowed their own legacy.

I still think they'll be watched for many decades to come. I don't see Cinderella, Pinnochio, or the Jungle Book going away anytime soon really. Snow White maybe since it's aged horribly, but I don't think many Disney films have aged all that bad.
