I am absolutely hooked. The directing, cinematography, and acting are spot on. One thing it does that not many series do is force me to watch I can't read an email or return a text while it is running even if it wasn't shifting languages because I have to look at the screen.
I am so glad it ended up as a mini-series after being planned as a movie but I kinda hate that it is based on a true story/book and only 8 episodes because if it continues this well done I could watch it for years.
BTW the real Adelstein was/is supposed to be a massive douche. The book is apparently a love story about himself.

Alright, reading this has convinced me. I’m watching it tonight.

Yeah, I am not going to read the book ever. I've heard bad things about it.

Question about this show to former smokers: Is it just me, or does this show really make you want a cigarette? It's been a long time since I've had one, but damn it I don't want to suck down a pack after finishing an episode. Everyone in this show smokes. All the time. In every scene.

Not surprising if you look at his pictures. You'd think he is a New Yorker, not someone from Missouri, but you can tell he is full of himself.
At least the show depicts him as likeable because he looks like he's a very annoying type.
This show is so damn good though, but I'll devour most anything Yakuza related

Just finished episodes 5 and 6, now getting a steak for dinner. Damn that looked so fricking good!
Fantastic show.
Fantastic show.

I worked in Japan for a few months in the 00s. The food there was the very best. I did the cook your own steak thing and it was extremely good. The show takes me back and I honestly kinda miss it all

I don't know..
I think because it's the baby driver guy he definitely still comes off as a douche.
White guy is very full of himself for fitting in. Thinks he's overly attractive to use women as leads.
But so far it's a great show. I keep getting drawn in to the late 90's club scene with the music.
I really hope the missing girls angle gets more involved

I like the writing because it’s evolving away from him a bit and more towards the other characters including Sato. It’s brilliantly managed

Him gliding along the street then running into his friend from Missouri and being immediately taken out of his element was a really nice touch.

Tokyo is one of the best fine dining cities in the entire world. Fun fact there are more Michelin star restaurants in Tokyo than in the entire US.

I had to go to youtube and watch some videos of him. I watched this video. He's gotta be on the spectrum, yes? And what's up with those Bender/Breakfast Club gloves

I didn't realize this would be a multi season series. Hopefully they continue and we get a resolution to the full story.

I love this show; hopefully, HBO picks it up for season two.
Episode 8 was fantastic.

Man, you could see that double cross on Samantha coming from a mile away.
Good season. They haven’t renewed it yet for a second season. I really hope they do.

I just watched episode 8 tonight and this series is really catching fire. I'm really impressed, instead of losing steam like I was concerned about its just getting better as it goes along. Like a couple of others have said, I think this may be the best program going currently.

Friggin everyone losing in that last episode was great.
But yeah, as soon as she got that call I knew it was a double cross.
Who left the evidence tape?

If this show doesn't get renewed for a season 2 I'm going to be royally pissed

Definitely one of the best shows on tv right now. They better have a season 2
