I love the show but just watched the new episodes and was really disappointed.
Why the really, really dark tint? Are they trying to hide how old everyone has gotten? It's like they hired a horror movie cinematographer who's been in a coma for 15 years. It looks like something from 2007.
And where's the clever dialogue? That's the best thing about the show, it has some of the best dialogue of all time. Maybe we don't get chimp with a machine gun but give us something. Without the great dialogue it's just another OK show.

Criticizing the cinematography is step too far. No one shoots a tv show better than Gilligan/Gould. Hell there are maybe a couple of people in film industry that do it better. They are masters. Fix your TV

The show used to look great. It's just gotten really dark and it looks like post-production filters to me, not like it was originally shot that way.

They inserted that envelope which had the phone number of the hotel Nacho was holed up in. It led the Salamancas (Bossa) to Nacho.
Why was this done? Salamanca's capturing Nacho and torturing the truth out of him would have been terrible for Gus.

Except that in BB at the vacuum place he asks Ed the Disappearer what’s in Nebraska and Ed says “You”, and then Saul gets a look of disgust on his face.
Saul mentioned being a cinnabun manager in the middle of america the first time it is mentioned he might need to be disappeared
Weird he acctually became a cinnabun manager

This show from the beginning has used many great cinematography techniques which is normal for anything Vince is attached to. It's some of the better camera work on TV today.
I don't like shows that lean heavy on darkness, etc. I don't feel that way about this show.

It's there, not sure what you're watching.

I'd like to point out also that every season has opened with a black and white "present day" Gene intro. Except this one.
We see them shutting down the Goodman office, etc.
Wonder what that signifies.

Gus was hoping Lalo would get in a shootout and die instead of giving himself up. That’s why they gave him a gun and told him to shoot anyone that enters. Doesn’t seem like the best plan though. Gus letting the glass cup fall was probably to indicate he’s not thinking straight.
ETA: Nacho not Lalo

Could also be an undercover cop because they suspect something fishy with Saul and Lalo. Or it could be Howard’s PI because he suspects Saul given what happened at the Club and possibly what his friend told him about the allegations. I’m leaning towards the latter. I think they’re underestimating Howard.

Obviously you mean Nacho. Interesting theory. The glass being knocked off the table was written for a reason. Also, this season opened w/ black and white. It signifies the present rather than the past, which works because Saul's home being raided would have happened after BB.

Well, Gus left that for Juan Bolsa to find, not necessarily the Salamancas.
I think there's a little game within the game going on in that Bolsa knows damn well that Gus ordered that hit (and Gus knows that he knows) but it is in Bolsa's business interests (and possibly his continued living interests) to make sure the mess gets cleaned up, which is way his boys went in guns blazing. Bolsa had no intention of leaving Nacho alive for interrogation. And Gus/Tyrus made sure that Nacho was armed to add a little extra incentive for a going down fighting path.
Of course, Bolsa operating in Salamanca territory meant he had to take some Salamancas along for the ride and the twins threw a wrench in that plan by going to extreme measures to ensure that Nacho wouldn't be killed in a shootout.

He had to know the brothers would go to great lengths to take Nacho alive. It just seems so much easier to kill Nacho right after he leaves the compound. This question was left as a cliffhanger on purpose so we shall see.

Everyone else knows that Lalo is alive except for them two,
Nobody except the Salamancas know Lalo is still alive.
The only Salamanca we KNOW that knows Lalo is alive is Hector. Even the twins found the burned up body double.

Who knows what the plan was if the mercs succeeded in killing Lalo. Maybe they would have gone after Nacho and killed him on the spot, too. They couldn't kill him right when he opened the gate because they were still planning on using stealth at that time.
And Gus doesn't want to send his own guys for either a hit or an extraction because having his guys operate in Salamanca territory just increases the odds that one of them gets captured, tortured and gives up Gus. Remember, the Salamancas don't like Gus on the best of days.
But now it looks like Gus is backed into a corner so he's going to have no choice but to send some of his boys in to get Nacho.
And yes, I agree. His plan really sucked. While Gus doesn't make mistakes often, he does make them.

Gus figured it out and told Mike Lalo lives.

it can't be mike, he is too busy dealing with gus and trying to extract nacho to be tailing saul. plus mike could just call saul to warn him about lalo
im like 80% sure its howards PI, 20% that its LEO tailing him after letting 'lalo' slip when speaking to the prosecutors about de guzeman skipping bail and falsifying a family for the trial.

There's really no point in arguing who was following them, we don't have enough info yet.
I see 3 possibilities.
1. Mike- needing some type of help on the Nacho situation.
2.Howard may already have a tail on them.
3. It could be the D.A./police trying to figure out the Jorge Deguzman situation.
