Am I the only one who thought Lalo’s death was slightly disappointing? I knew it would happen but i guess i expected more from it. Nacho and Howards death were done far better.
I thought so too. The stashed gun suddenly appearing within Gus' reach seemed kind of lazy (was there ever any reference to it before?) and I think the whole subplot of Lalo finding out about the underground lab could have been done in a much more interesting way.

That right there proved to Gus that Saul would be useful from then on.
I didn't see it that way originally, just thought he realized it wasn't the sole angle of Lalo. I do like your take on it though.

I think he placed that gun there several episodes ago..

my first thought was that he was impressed with Jimmy,
but once he took off for the lab I saw it as Gus realizing that Lalo was a move ahead...nobody would be able to talk Lalo out of anything he wanted in motion

you must not have paid attention during that episode
Yes it was very much mentioned, and pretty strongly assumed that that's exactly what it was going to be intended for. There was an episode a few back (before the break obviously, but in season 6) when we see Gus place that gun in that tractor tire. Further, we see gus go stand over by the power switch, then deliberately walk and count off how many paces it was from there to the tire, presumably since he'd need to do it in the dark when the time comes.

Gus planted the gun there earlier, I don't remember if it was season 5 or this season, but he specifically planted the gun and set the place up for a confrontation. It was a very careful scene and you can tell that Gus is imagining a confrontation in the lab in his mind while he's planting the gun.
I think a lot of Gus' actions this season make a lot more sense when you realize that, on some level, Gus wanted a confrontation between himself and Lalo in the lab. It was very unlikely that the 2 of those guys would wind up down there alone unless Gus played along to some extent. There is no chance that Lalo would ever figure out how to get down into the lab by himself given that it was heavily fortified and under constant surveillance. So why would Gus set up that environment for a confrontation when he could have stashed that gun somewhere else. He just has a 6th sense for these things.

You are forgetting one dangerous person who now knows who she is...Gus Fring.
Kim being vacuumed is still much in play.
Not only because of Gus but it's also possible that she could get blamed for Howard's murder. She's going to have a harder time than Jimmy acting like everything is normal the next day. And the PI knows they've been screwing with Howard. Will he keep his mouth shut?

quote:The problem being that while the Goodmans are in court and at the office, Howard is "being driven" to an upper west coast/eastern gulf coast beach. They'll at least have an alibi for that. The D.A. would have to prove a much larger cabal, which they'll never be able to do. They'd have to find Howard's blood in casa Goodman to make an arrest.
And the PI knows they've been screwing with Howard.
ETA: By the brown water I'm guessing they left Howard's car by the FloraBama.

Kim and Jimmy's marriage/attraction was based completely on the next con - more so for Kim. That's gone now -- and so is Kim's reasons for staying with Jimmy.
So then we return to the mundane legal issues that are the bedrock of so much of this show. Jimmy receives the $2MM in the Sandpiper settlement -- New Mexico is a community property, no-fault divorce state -- Kim files for divorce -- They each get $1MM -- Kim splits for a public interest gig in Boston -- and Jimmy becomes jaded, BB Saul Goodman.

quote:I’ve wondered how much they intend to lean on the obvious physical disparity between these characters. Despite whatever emotional baggage she carries, Rhea/Kim is a legit smokeshow. I know Jimmy is playing his pre-BB character who is 4 years younger, but even that character is seemingly way older and more haggard than Kim. Every time Lalo and Nacho had a chance, they mentioned it. From everything they’ve told us, it would seem that Jimmy is 15 or so years older. And, they don’t play him as some older debonair dude. He seems genuinely awkward—essentially an average middle age guy. Although they have great chemistry, the show almost seems to highlight their dissimilarities at every turn. So, to your point, it seems logical that whatever attracts Kim to Jimmy would end, and that would be where they split.
next con - more so for Kim. That's gone now -- and so is Kim's reasons for staying with Jimmy.

Not to bust your scenario down or anything but after last night's episode, if Kim and Jimmy simply get divorced, I'd be highly disappointed.
I don't see the events of this episode pushing them apart, I think it will make their bond even closer after the near-death experience.
My guess is that Mike will tell Kim that Gus wants her dead to trim a loose end. Mike will advise her to get the hell out of there before it's too late.

This episode was some high-level television. Hate that there are only a few more episodes for the BB/BCS world.

BCS has surpassed BB imo and is firmly in the tier S category of shows all time.
Lalo playing 4D chess was amazing.
